Delvin (2021)
Seattle artist Julie Speidel is known internationally for her large-scale bronze sculptures and the paintings that often presage them. Her work is influenced by the stone monuments of her ancestral Ireland, ancient Greek fertility figures, and totem poles of indigenous tribes of the Northwest. A 25 by 38-inch hand-rubbed oil painting on paper, "Delvin" is inspired by a 15th-century ruined Irish castle. Julie created it for our gala to honor her grandparents, Edna and Loren Grinstead, who helped found the Arboretum in 1935. Value: $13,500
Man Cleaning His Fish, II (2006)
This limited-edition linoleum cut print by revered Seattle-based visual artist Barbara Earl Thomas is from the "Book of Fishing" collection, which celebrates her southern roots. Barbara comes from a family of fishermen who migrated from the South to the Pacific Northwest in the early 1940s. Value: $1,250
Sumi Quirk (1986)
This is a framed, limited-edition print of a sumi-e drawing by renowned sculptor and painter George Tsutakawa (1910 -1997), who designed the Arboretum's beloved Memorial Gates. From 1960 on, George's work explored the relationship between humans and nature. Value: $900
Dance of the Muses (2018)
An original, limited-edition serigraph by Mexican-born painter Alfredo Arreguin, it captures the majestic orcas of the Salish Sea. Known for his intricate and highly detailed paintings, Alfredo specializes in creating canvases that explode with ornate patterns and bright colors. Value: $600
Isosahedron (2018)
Carolyn Collins, a member of Arboretum Foundation Unit 16, created this stunning pair of ceramics by assembling thick triangles into standing pieces. An avid gardener, Carolyn weaves botanical and geometric designs through all of her ornamental pottery work. Value: $375
Sunset by the River (2012)
Urania Perez is a local artist and educator who finds much inspiration for her work on her walks through the Arboretum. She likes to paint "present moments," either in an impressionist or realistic style, often using vivid, tropical colors. "Sunset by the River" is a 16 x 20-inch acrylic on linen canvas. Value: $290
