Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
"I know who you are-the holy one of God!"
Weekly message from Fr. Mike
Mass schedule
As we mentioned last week, beginning in Lent we will resume our regular weekend mass schedule. So, on Saturday, February 20th, Mass will be at 5:00 PM. Sunday, February 21st, Masses will be at 8:30 and 10:30 AM. We will continue to follow the same requirements of wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. We will also continue to live-stream the Saturday evening mass.

We have noticed an increase in the number of people coming to mass and want to encourage people coming to mass. We will continue to live-stream mass for those who don’t feel safe coming to mass yet or are unable to come to mass.

Retirement
I have written Bishop Johnston requesting to retire as pastor this year. He recently responded and granted my request. My retirement will take effect when the diocese makes priest assignments which will be either late June or early July. I am looking for a home in the Lee’s Summit area. I am planning to assist parishes with masses when the need is there. I will let you know more as time goes by.

You can find this week's prayers of the faithful here.

Perishable food drive ministry
As a part of our outreach ministry for the hungry in our community, our parish is launching a ministry to provide perishable food (meat, fruits/vegetables, eggs, butter, and milk) to families in our local community. The ministry kicks off this weekend with presentations at both masses. A second collection is scheduled for the weekend of February 6-7. We are currently looking for volunteers to prepare the food bundles and are asking for your financial support. For more information, please email Deacon Rich or call 816-537-6990, extension 305.
El Salvador ministry update
Tu ayuda es muy necesaria!  Which translated means “Your help is greatly needed!” We are part way through our second year of supporting our ministry to students in El Salvador. Last year we provided scholarships to 10 college students, 11 high school students, and 10 elementary age students. Almost all of those we supported are still in school. In addition, CES has asked us if we can sponsor more kids, as the need is great.

If you have already contributed to the ministry this year, thank you! If you have been thinking about it, it’s not too late. Donations can be made on-line through the Holy Spirit giving portal. Or for more information, please email Deacon Rich.
A special thank you
Thank you to our Knights of Columbus council for donating the Catholic Children’s Bibles. They were given to the children who recently celebrated their First Reconciliation.
