Eagle Spotlight
December 2021
Monica Bay & Nicole Thorn
Jefferson Elementary
Ms. Bay and Mrs. Thorn organized a carnival event for a student's sibling who had been fighting a terminal illness for over 2 years. The purpose of the event was for the family to have a sense of normalcy, and simply to have a good time. For one night, they provided a way for this student's family to laugh, play, be silly and messy, and not have to think about sickness.
The following are comments from their nominator and Principal:
"They never want to be recognized for the things they do, but their love and devotion to their students and their commitment to caring for the whole child is awe inspiring."
"Ms. Bay and Mrs. Thorn are two of the most devoted teachers you'll find. Their passion for their kids far exceeds just the classroom and curriculum. They connect with the families and community of Jefferson never hesitating to go the extra mile to meet any need they see. Their example of selfless giving provides a powerful example for all of us what it means to truly love our kids!"
