Director's Reflection

Dear Redeemer Community,

I recently stumbled across the saying, “Make a great day.” While we all know that every day isn’t great, it speaks to the power of optimism and an active, engaged attitude. It is empowering. If we all woke up each day and intentionally decided to make a great day, imagine the impact it will have on our future.

Please remember to LABEL EVERYTHING - coats, boots, lunch boxes, water bottles,, etc!

Admissions Season:

October 1 marks the official start of admissions season. Our parents and alum are our greatest ambassadors. If you know families who are interested in our program, please encourage them to visit our website to learn more about the admissions process and schedule a visit. We appreciate all you do the spread the word about Redeemer!

Travel Policy:

Unvaccinated members of our community who travel to locations with a 7-day positivity rate greater than 10% will be required to obtain a negative PCR no earlier than three days after their return, provided they do not have symptoms.

Health Policy:

If a student or staff member is experiencing symptoms or illness of any kind, they should not come to school. Parents are required to notify the school office when a child is absent.
If a student, family member or staff demonstrates symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19; they should not come to school, it should be reported to the school office, and Redeemer Parish Day School is required to notify the Baltimore City Health Department & Office of Child Care.
If a student becomes sick at school with a fever or symptoms of COVID, the child will be taken to an isolated outdoor area. Parents will be notified via Brightwheel and need to arrive within 30 minutes.
Quarantining protocols for students and staff will be guided by our advising pediatrician and MSDH.

What's happening in the classrooms?

First Grade with Mrs. Hoover

First grade is soaring to new heights at Redeemer! We have had so much fun getting to know each other and are settling into our new routines and expectations. We are loving our beautiful new first grade space. The kids are excited to be Redeemer role models, and we have talked a lot about what an important role that is. This year we will be traveling the world through books. We started the year by learning about similarities and differences between schools around the world. Did you know some kids go to floating schools because their communities experience so much flooding? For the rest of the year, we will focus on traditions, celebrations, wildlife, dress, literature, and other aspects of cultures on each of the 7 continents. In Language Arts we have been busy learning routines for our Daily 5 centers, Readers Workshop, and Writers Workshop and have been reviewing short vowel sounds and letter formation. We are doing an author study of Kevin Henkes, and the kids have enjoyed making text-to-self connections to his funny little mice. In math we have been busy working on counting by 1s, 2s, and 5s and using the number line to compare numbers through games and other hands- on activities. We are off to a great start and are looking forward to lots of fall fun in October!

Program Highlights

School is off to a great start! We continue to be so grateful for our fantastic facilities and outdoor space. Our gardens are growing! We have harvested lettuces, investigated animal tracks, conducted science experiments, and enjoyed the beautiful flowers. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Decker/Knight Family (Avery, pre-k & Easton, 2s) for their expertise, help and hard work in ensuring a bountiful harvest! We are also very grateful to the Bauman family (Glyde, pre-k) for donating new sand diggers. Our excavators are having a blast! We are also really excited to welcome our inaugural first grade! They are excellent leaders and role models for our little ones, and their presence adds a fantastic spirit to our campus!
