E-Hall Pass
SHS is currently transitioning to electronic passes to decrease the number of students out of class and increase every student's in-classroom learning time. The purpose of this activity is to train students how to write a pass to the bathroom, how to acknowledge an appointment pass, and how to practice respectful etiquette when responding to staff in the hallways. Lastly, we want to emphasize “Safe, Honorable, and Sensible” behaviors while in the restroom.

Introducing a new pilot program called TalkingPoints!
SHS is currently in the early implementation stages of this new program. A quick overview includes connecting teachers and families in a two-way translated communication platform. Moreover, it helps eliminate language and time barriers.TalkingPoints provides an opportunity for family engagement in every students' academic success. The goal is that each Senior completes the first 4 steps of registering to Hartnell, providing general knowledge on accessing any community college in the state. We recognize not all students will be attending a community college. However, statistics show that 2/3 of seniors in Advanced Placement English classes did not think they will be using the community college, but do for supplemental courses for 4-year university classes or Summer School. Anecdotally, we have many students asking for help to get into the Community College system. The Steps to Success program has been instrumental in aiding student's educational successes. | |
SHS Student Filmmakers
"Know the Signs" was included in the group of Directing Change PSAs that aired on television in September 2021 by FOX covering Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties!
This video talks about the warning signs of suicide and encourages individuals to be aware of these signs and take action if they notice these changes in others.

Cowboy Wellness
Join one of our previous students Lidia Martinez explore the Salinas Union High School District Virtual Calming Room. In addition, SHS has multiple wellness resources filled with school and community support, digital coloring pages, free listen-along audiobooks, follow along with yoga videos, and LGBTQ+ resources. Pase Electrónico
El propósito de esta actividad es enseñar a los estudiantes sobre cómo escribir un pase electrónico para ir al baño, cómo hacer un pase, y cómo responder respetuosamente a nuestro personal . Durante esta lección, también abordaremos la etiqueta adecuada al hablar con un miembro del personal en el campus. Además, enfatizamos los comportamientos “seguros, honorables y sensatos” mientras están en el baño.

El objetivo es que cada estudiante de último año complete los primeros 4 pasos para registrarse en Hartnell, proporcionando conocimientos generales sobre el acceso a cualquier colegio comunitario en el estado. ¡"Conozca las señales " fue incluido en el grupo de anuncios de servicio público que se transmitieron por televisión en septiembre de 2021 por FOX en los condados de Monterey, Santa Cruz y San Benito! Este video habla sobre las señales de advertencia del suicidio y alienta a las personas a conocer estas señales y tomar medidas si notan estos cambios en sus seres queridos.

Bienestar Emocional en SHS
