5ESSESNTIAL SURVEY
The statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey is now open for parents to share thoughts about your experiences with our school. This survey provides critical input to help develop school improvement plans. The survey takes about 20 minutes. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

To take the parent survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the parent survey link. You will need to enter the county (DuPage) and school name. Our current response rate is 2 percent and we need it to be at least 20 percent to receive a report.

Students in grades 9-12 will take the survey at our school on February 23rd. Under the Protection of Pupil Rights Act 20 U.S.C. Section 1232(c) (1) (A), you have the right to review a copy of the questions on the student survey. If you do not want your student to participate in the survey, fill out a non-participation form and return it to school. Please be aware that student participation rates are one measure that the state uses in its accountability system for our schools.

The feedback will help us continue to improve our school. Thank you for your cooperation.
DAILY SCHOOL START TIME
Recently we have noticed that a large number of our students are arriving late to school on a consistent basis. One of our goals each and every day is to ensure that our school day starts on time with students in their classroom when the 2nd bell rings at 7:40am. We know that there are times where weather can cause the morning commute to be longer than normal. The traffic congestion in the drop off lane always increases with the colder weather and we are asking for your cooperation in getting students to the building on time each day. We have the following areas available to students each morning : Math Resource Lab (6:45am), Learning Commons (6:45am), and student cafeteria for breakfast (7am).

Thank you for your assistance and support.
LIFE AFTER YORK PROGRAM
York PTSA's Academic Boosters with support from York's Counseling Department are happy to bring you Life After York Q&A, a virtual program.

Whether you have an 8th grader or a senior in high school, it’s never too early or too late to learn from other experienced parents on how to navigate the college application process. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, March 8th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the Life After York, Q&A virtual presentation. Attend one session or stay for all nine topics. RSVP HERE.
COVID VACCINATION RECORDS
We recently sent a confirmation to the families of all students who have submitted vaccine cards. If your child has been vaccinated and you did not receive a confirmation message, that means the school does not have a record of your child’s vaccine. The easiest way to submit a copy of your child’s vaccine record is at this link.
PROTECTING YOUR PEACE DURING COVID 19
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be present in our lives, it’s very important that we all take time to make mental wellbeing a priority. Mental Health First Aid USA, from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, recently published an article on the simple ways we can take care of ourselves, especially as we go through our second full winter of COVID-19. Use this link to learn more about these helpful tips to manage your mental wellbeing.

INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTIFICTAIONS
Should we need to call an emergency/inclement weather day due to hazardous weather conditions, we will notify families through email, text message, and phone calls. The information will also be posted on our District and school websites, Facebook and Twitter.

If your contact information (phone or email) has changed since you filled out Infosnap/student registration, please contact the front office of your child’s school to update your contact preferences and ensure that you receive communication from the District.

We appreciate your help as we continue to plan for any potential weather-related closures. More information about our winter weather protocols is available on our Emergency School Closings webpage.
