Return to Squash (R2S) Updates

A new Provincial Health Office (PHO) order of December 3, 2020 was issued to address the rising transmission of COVID-19 and the causes from social interactions. The intent is to limit the social interaction or gatherings that inherently comes from sport. While revisions are being worked on at the provincial level, esepecially for racquet sports, effective immediately SQBC has recommended the following interim measures:

  • All physical distancing requirements have been increased from 2 to 3m
  • Focus on skill development and low risk activities
  • Group size:
  • Singles - 2 players; lessons are 2 players plus coach with physical distancing
  • Double - maximum of 3 players on court
  • Travel for sport is limited to and from your club only
  • No spectators
  • No gathering

Please be patient and supportive of your clubs and facilities as we all navigate this second wave of COVID-19, helping to keep our squash community safe and healthy, and lowering the risk to our health care system.

Former Bayside Squash Club makes donation to Squash BC's Building the Future Fund
At the site of the former Bayside Squash Club, Louise Latremouille on behalf of the club’s former members, is seen here handing a donation of just over $3,000 to Squash BC Board Member Bruce Matthews, in support of junior squash programming and initiatives to increase junior participation through the Building the Future Fund. Both Louise and Bruce were members of Tsawwassen’s once popular ocean side recreation facility, and hope squash courts will one day again be available in South Delta.

Thank you for your generous donation!
Sunshine Squash Club organizes online fitness
Sunshine Squash Club is inviting the squash community to join them for a virtual fitness session!

Held Saturdays, from 8-9pm on Zoom, this is a great opportunity to connect and work out with others in the squash community, all while supporting a good cause. While the fitness sessions are free to attend, Sunshine Squash Club is encouraging all participants make a donation to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. Through the first two weeks of the program, they have already raised an incredible $3600.

Sunshine Squash Club was formed in March 2020, by four Junior players in BC. The club acts not only as a group of volunteer ambassadors aiming to promote the sport in the community, but also a platform for Junior players to interact with each other.
