Indoor Worship with Holy Eucharist
Sunday, October 3 at 8:00 and 9:30
We will continue to worship indoors this coming Sunday at both 8:00 and 9:30.

Masks are required and we ask that you leave space between yourselves and others if possible. The nursery will be available during the 9:30 service. Please note that services will continue to be Livestreamed on Facebook and uploaded to YouTube for those who wish to worship virtually.

We welcome two special guests this Sunday: preacher Brother James Dowd and saxophonist Larry Neumann. We hope you can join us!
This Sunday, we welcome Brother James Dowd as our guest preacher.

Brother James Dowd, Prior of The Benedictine Way, has been a monk for many years. Before serving in Nebraska, he served at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY and at Mariya uMama weThemba Monastery in Grahamstown, South Africa. Brother James is passionate about exploring the intersection of the quest for Christian social justice and the contemplative life. Before his years in monastic life, Brother James had a career in theater and television.

Get to know our guest musician for this Sunday!

This Sunday’s liturgy will include music by guest saxophonist Larry Neumann, a longtime collaborator with minister of music Roger Stratton. Larry has been director of the Century College Jazz Band and the St. Croix Jazz Orchestra, as well as a part of the music ministry at Guardian Angels Church in Oakdale. Larry and Roger will play hymn arrangements in a variety of styles, including an evocative piece for soprano sax and organ that was written for use at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Then everyone will get a chance to sing with them on a jazz arrangement of our final hymn.
Learn more about the Benedictine Way
The Benedictine Way is an example of Benedictine life in the 21st century; gathering to itself a multi-generational, diverse group of people who desired to live together as a Christian community in the context of Benedictine spirituality, according to the Rule of Benedict; a life of prayer; service to the poor and forgotten; and care of creation.
It consists of three branches: The Benedictine Service Corps (one-year commitment for young adults), The Oblate Way (both residential and non-residential for adults who desire Benedictine spirituality but not vowed monastic life), and The Monastic Way (for those who seek traditional vowed monasticism). Together, this community works with others in bringing forward God’s Reign. For more information on The Benedictine Way please visit us at www.thebenedictineway.org

Volunteers Needed for St. David's Youth Ministries
As someone who has worked closely with our St. David youth over many years, I’ll be the first to say that we have the most amazing young people in our midst. Some of my deepest and most spiritually enriching relationships at church were born during my time in youth ministry. Please consider this opportunity… not only for what it will do to support our youth, but for what it might mean for your own faith journey. Prepare to be challenged, surprised, encouraged and most importantly… to plant the seeds for life long friendships.

We are looking to build a team of youth volunteers to support our new youth minister, Anna, and our High School and Middle School youth groups. Whether you are available once a month or weekly, we need you!  Our High School group meets on Sunday evenings (6:00-8:00) and our Middle School group on Wednesday evenings (6:45-8:15). Please email Anna with questions or interest/availability at [email protected].

Thank you for loving our children so well!

Calling All Bridge Players
If you are interested in playing bridge at St. David’s or learning how to play bridge, please contact Susan Taylor: [email protected] or 652-944-7241.

The St. David’s Bridge Group plays in the Undercroft on the 3rd Friday of the month at 6:30 PM except December and Summer. You do not need to commit to play for the whole season, only for one night at a time. Snowbirds can play in the Fall and the Spring. Due to COVID, masks and vaccinations are required. No snacks will be served. We play casual party bridge and welcome new members.
Looking for Additional Ushers
Because it has been nearly a year and a half since St. David’s has operated in the “normal” way, we have to re-build our lay service teams almost from scratch, so we are looking for fresh volunteers for ushering. We need a gaggle of ushers in our team so that we can schedule each of them no more often than about once a month.

Ushering is an easy and fun ministry because it mainly consists of making people feel welcome and at home at St. David’s, and our parishioners are naturals at that. It is a great ministry that families can do together, if they want. Once we have a group of volunteers we will do a short training course so that all of the new and old ushers are on the same page with respect to the simple choreography of the service.
Please let me know if you have any interest in helping with this important but fun ministry at St. David’s and I will explain the details and answer your questions.

Thanks,
Steve Johnson

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: [email protected] or (952) 237-0031
or:
The Rev. Katherine Lewis at: [email protected] or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.
