The library is currently in Stage 4: OPEN for Limited Access
  • The library building is OPEN during regular hours
  • Short Stay: 30 minutes grab and go; limited occupancy
  • Masks & social distancing are required
  • Curbside Pickup Service is still available during regular hours for materials and take-home crafts
  • Photocopying and faxing is available
  • Limited computers: 30 minute time limit; library cardholders only; printing available 10 cents/page
  • No study rooms
  • No Friends book sales.  Book donations are being accepted - please call for details

Curbside pickup of materials is still available - no appointment needed.

Late fines are currently suspended.

All items can be returned to the outside drop box.  Returned items stay in quarantine for 3-4 days (and remain on your account during that time).  Please contact us if your account shows items not returned.

- Due dates for checked-out items still apply.
- Fees for lost or damaged materials will still be assessed.
- Items marked lost that are then returned will have fees removed.
- Please return all items in the outside drop box.

As of Wednesday, January 25, we have a new phone system. Please be aware that phone options and extensions may have changed and do be patient with us!

The library will be closed on Monday, February 15 for Presidents' Day.

Hoopla Bonus Borrows in February
In February 2021, you can access extra items that don't count toward your 8-item limit.  To find these titles, look for items in the "Bonus Borrows" collection.

New to Hoopla?  It's easy to set up a free account - you'll need your Highland library card number and an email address.  Borrow 8 titles each month - and no wait lists!  Find audiobooks, ebooks, comics, movies, music, TV shows and more!
AARP Tax-Aide
The AARP will hold Tax-Aide appointments at the Highland Library on Thursdays this tax season.  Please note that Tax-Aide will operate differently this year.  Appointments must be made in advance by visiting the library or by calling 248-887-2218, ext 3.
Mobile Hotspots
Hotspots are now available for checkout. 
Have access to the internet from anywhere, anytime! 
Find the hotspots in the Adult reference department or click through for more information.

Direct Number for Curbside

We now have a direct number (DID) for Curbside Pickup: (248) 769 - 7127

Save the curbside # in your phone and save time - call this direct line when you arrive for curbside pickup and bypass having to go through the Main Menu.
RBdigital Magazines Are Moving
The Highland Library will be moving our digital magazines from RBdigital to the Libby app on February 18. You will continue to be able to browse, borrow, and enjoy all the same great magazines from ZINIO you loved in the RBdigital app, now available in Libby from OverDrive.

Highland and the Railroad, Part 1
Tuesday, February 9, 7:00pm - Online via ZOOM
Learn how Highland and the Railroad are connected, including the origins, construction, and role of the railroad in the Township's development (Part 1 of 2).
Program will be held online via Zoom. Please register and we will email you the access link a few days before the programs.  Presented in partnership with the Highland Activity Center and presented by Eugene Beach of the Highland Township Historical Society.

Ancestry Library: Tips and Tricks!

The largest genealogical online database in the world is Ancestry.com and you have access to it at home, for FREE, using your library card.  Learn ways to use the Library version for your family research, tricks for searching and more!  Program will be held online via Zoom.  Presented by professional genealogist Judy Nimer Muhn of Lineage Journeys.
Adult Take and Make: Cozy "Hygge" Kit
Register, then pick up starting February 17
"Hygge" is a Danish concept that means creating an atmosphere of cozy contentment.  Your at-home kit will include a few items to help you though the the long, dark winter, including a simple craft. First priority for kits goes to Highland Township Library cardholders.

Take and Make: Mini Cloud Lamp

It's cold and dark in Feb. Let's warm it up with a bright, blinky and fluffy cloud for your sanctuary!  Your kit will include all the supplies you'll need (you'll need a hot glue gun).

Register to receive a packet that will help you bring stories to life in your living room with music, movement and more.
Valentine's Day Sloth
Register, then pick up starting February 13
For ages 5 to 12 years.
Create a sloth out of paper. Make it into a card or use it to decorate a gift for your favorite valentine.
3D Animals
Register, then pick up starting February 16
For ages 8 to 12 years.
Pick up a flat sheet of cardboard and use it to build a 3-D animal. A great DIY project for creative kids.

SPY School
Register, then pick up starting February 27
For ages 5 to 12 years.
All right, Captain Sneaky-Pants. You're hereby challenged to join SPY SCHOOL. Register to pick up a packet full of tips, trick, and tools to hone your skills.

Virtual Mother-Daughter Book Club
