You will also experience a word from Commissioner Doreen Williams, personal recovery stories and information on how to support the Rockdale County Stepping Up Initiative in our ongoing efforts to reduce the number of people in the criminal justice system with mental health and substance use challenges.

CHAMPION OF RECOVERY

Matthew's Story

Matthew Robinson has been selected as the Champion of Recovery for the month of January because of his courage and perserverance. Matthew has been dedicated to restoring his life and is continually of service to the Rockdale recovery community!

We are grateful to have people in recovery that are using their passion to encourage whole health and wellness as well as spreading hope to others in recovery!

CHAMPION OF CHANGE

Deputy Chief Scott Freeman

This month’s champion of change is Deputy Chief Scott Freeman. He has been chosen as a result of his innovative leadership with the development of the co-responder models now being implemented across our systems. These co-responder models are addressing one of our most sensitive social issues, the engagement of persons with mental health challenges by our law enforcement communities.

This innovation is adding a mental health professional as well as the support of our community service boards network

of providers to one of the most sensitive engagements that takes place in our society today. It is our belief that this type of aggressive decision making is not only a response to the many voices that are asking for change in these delicate processes but is a major contribution to a safer, more humane society. Where persons with mental health challenges are being better protected and served. Thank you Deputy Chief Scott Freeman for your commitment to changing our community in a positive way!
