Election and Absentee Ballot FAQ
The Village is experiencing a high volume of questions related the upcoming election, absentee ballots, and response deadlines. Please see the below list of frequently asked questions and answers. What is the status of my Absentee Ballot (As of 10/23/20)? 
  • The Village has received over 7,637 absentee ballot requests out of approximately 10,800 registered voters. Of those requests, over 5,941 ballots have already been completed and returned (78% of issued ballots)!
  • You can check the status of your ballot here: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/MyVoterInfo. 

How do I register to vote for the November 3, 2020 election?
  • Registration can be done at Village Hall during regular business hours (or until 5:00 pm on October 30).You may also register on election day. Proof of residency required.
  • There is no voter registration on the Monday prior to the election.
  • Note: You must have resided at the address you provide on your Registration Form for at least 28 consecutive days prior to an election in order to vote in Whitefish Bay.  

How do I request an absentee ballot? 
  • You may request an absentee ballot by mail via myvote.wi.gov or in writing to elections@wfbvillage.org. Please include your name, address, birthdate and photo ID. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Thursday, October 29, 2020. Requested absentee ballots take several days to arrive by mail. 

How do I return my ballot?
  • Absentee ballots may be returned via USPS or in the 24 hour drop box located in the between the front doors at Village Hall (see photo).  

When is in-person absentee voting?
  • In-person absentee voting will take place at Village Hall, 5300 N. Marlborough Drive, starting Tuesday, October 20, 2020 through Friday, October 30, 2020, except weekends. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Friday, October 30, the hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
  • No appointment necessary, please bring a photo ID.
  • There is no absentee voting on the Monday prior to the election.

Offices to be elected for the November 3rd election include: President and Vice President of the United States, Representative in Congress, State Senator, Representative to the Assembly, District Attorney, Milwaukee County Clerk, Treasurer, and Register of Deeds.

Wisconsin Requires a Photo ID to Vote: All Wisconsin voters must show an acceptable photo ID before voting. This includes voters at polling places and most absentee voters. The address on your photo ID does not have to be your current address and the name on your ID does not need to be an exact match to your name in the poll book (such as an abbreviated name). Visit the State of Wisconsin website for more information.

Election Day Safety: The Village is doing everything we can to keep poll workers, Village Staff, and the general public safe. Safety precautions on Election Day will include:
  • Professional sanitation service at all polling places throughout Election Day.
  • Voting booths placed a minimum of six feet apart.
  • Plexiglas shields to separate poll workers and voters.
  • Gloves for poll workers.
  • Masks for poll workers.
  • Wipes.
  • Hand sanitizer.
  • Pen for every voter.
  • Tape on floor for social distancing.
