We would like to congratulate Ms. Tricia Arndt, as our new representative serving the 3rd district - Congratulations Councilwoman Arndt, and to Council elect Mr. Andre Boggerty who won the At-Large position in last weeks election.
Councilman Boggerty and Councilwoman Arndt will take their oaths on May 10, 2021.
Thank you to Mr. Michael Lewis and Mr. LaVaughn McCuthen for your willingness to serve our community.

Caught you doing something GREAT!
Earlier this morning, former City Councilman Adam Perza, called in for 14 of 15 ducklings down a storm drain. Public Works and Dover PD responded and pulled the grate - they were able to retrieve all but 2 (which swam away) carried the others across State Street (safely in a bucket) and reunited them with their mama!
We love the teamwork and such a happy ending for them!

April is Autism "ACCEPTANCE"
Month!
April has widely been known as “Autism Awareness Month” in the United States as a way to empower autistic individuals and their families. Today, the autism community is calling on all media outlets to shift their language to match the growing need for acceptance within the community in preparation for any news coverage in the weeks ahead.
The shift in the use of terminology aims to foster acceptance to ignite change through improved support and opportunities in education, employment, accessible housing, affordable health care and comprehensive long-term services. We at the City of Dover, are proud to share the efforts of shifting awareness to acceptance!

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month we share part of what can be found in President Biden's opening remarks:
“Sexual assault, at its core, is a devastating abuse of power — one that affects people of every age, race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, socioeconomic background, and religion. It is the responsibility of each of us to stand up and speak out against it, not only to improve the laws and services available to survivors, but also to change the culture and attitudes that allow sexual assault to proliferate.
Together, we must work toward a society that upholds every person’s right to live free from sexual violence — where our institutions and communities commit to preventing sexual assault and sexual harassment, supporting survivors, and holding offenders accountable.”

If you need a passport, don’t forget that the Dover Public Library is a passport acceptance facility. Call 736-7554 today to schedule your appointment (preferred) or walk-in Tuesday through Friday whenever the library is open.

Perfect way to celebrate Earth Day! |
|
The City of Dover Parks & Recreation Department along with Dover Downs Hotel and Casino celebrated Earth Day by working in Mallard Pond Park. In attendance were close to twenty (20) volunteers from Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. Together we were able to create, plant and mulch a new flower bed at the entrance to the park. |

The group also planted three new trees and picked up debris throughout. Those in attendance finished out the day by mulching the remaining trees in the park. The event was organized by Nancy McCoy from Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. Ms. McCoy the efforts of you and the staff are much appreciated by the City of Dover. It was a chilly but great day to celebrate Earth Day. |
