There is something for everyone at Lake Park, and the faculty and staff look forward to showcasing the many options at Plan Your Path Night!
Choose Kindness: Wear Orange on November 15
Letter to students emphasizes kindness, inclusivity, and embracing diversity.
Dear Lancers,

The Lake Park school community seeks to create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all individuals who come here. The use of derogatory language and hate speech towards fellow Lancers will not be tolerated. Please know that words used in classrooms, in the hallways, and through social media are powerful, and thus it is very important to consider what we are saying and the meaning and impact for those around us.

Did you know that tomorrow, Saturday, November 13 is World Kindness Day and that Sunday, November 14 is block-out Cyber Bullying Day? In support of these initiatives and to create further awareness, we are asking Lancers to wear orange on Monday, November 15 which aligns with our “Kindness Monday” campaign. Wearing orange demonstrates several things: that bullying will not be tolerated; there is unity among our school community; we are inclusive and accept all students and staff members.

Last month, several of your classmates presented to the Board of Education a vision for the Portrait of a Lake Park graduate and the five important characteristics that Lancers should embody. One of those characteristics is to be a Global Citizen, defined as someone who:
  • embraces diverse cultures and unique perspectives
  • values the successes of their fellow citizens from diverse backgrounds
  • lives in accordance with their own values while respecting the values of others
  • is culturally responsive.

Students can demonstrate global citizenship and kindness through their daily actions, words and deeds. As a sign of school unity, and in support of this message, please wear orange on Monday, November 15.

Please remember to always choose kindness!
