Cents-Ability is a PCUSA initiative to combat hunger in our local communities.

FPC's first Cents-Ability Collection Sunday was a success! $431.72 in loose change was collected.

Collection Sundays will be scheduled every two months so keep those containers on the kitchen table and fill 'em up. Thank you!

We thank all volunteers who provided snacks this semester to the 60 students in Leap Frog's Tier 2 reading support program. Your care and concern is greatly appreciated by the children and staff.

Following the deadly tornado that struck Mississippi, on March 24th, there has been an outpouring of support and aid. If you would like to assist our sisters and brothers in crisis, FPC will be involved in a number of ways:

1) Tax deductible donations can be made to the Community Foundation of Washington County. Designate your contribution for the South Delta Disaster Recovery Fund. To donate click here

2) In the coming weeks and months, FPC will organize volunteers to work in affected communities, as we did in Kentucky, to directly assist in the recovery and rebuilding effort. As specific projects are identified, groups will be recruited to go. FPC intends to be a part of the long-term effort to restore this devastated community.

The UM Division of Diversity and Community Engagement and Arc Benders would like to invite you to kick off the

 National Week of Conversation

with a film screening and discussion Monday, April 17th from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m at the Jackson Avenue Center, Ballroom B. The film follows six activists on opposite sides of their community's most polarizing issue. After watching the documentary and witnessing these activists grow from seeing each other as enemies to friends, there will be a brief discussion on how we can continue to build a stronger community through conversation and fellowship. Dinner will be provided. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register here.

Lovepacks is an in-school pantry provides food for 250 children in the Oxford and Lafayette county schools that experience hunger in their homes.

Find a of suggested donations here.

For more information contact Carmille Hovious at 662-380-1471 or read more here.

FPC members continue to host the Doors of Hope Step 2 Dinner the second Tuesday of each month. Volunteer hosts pick up the prepared meal from Larson's and serve it in the fellowship hall. If you are interested in volunteering, click here.

The Oxford Community Market is more than just a farmer’s market. A half dozen programs are in place to make fresh produce and nutritious food available to those who otherwise are not able to afford it.  Read more here.

In its many programs, a variety of volunteer options are available. If you would like to join in the fun, download the Group Me app and enter "OXCM Flower of Life Volunteer." Calls for volunteers are posted regularly. For more information call the director, Betsy Chapman at 662-816-7413.

Need a helping hand? In Good Order is a group of FPC volunteers available to assist members who may need a little extra help with a yard project or light home repairs.

If you would like assistance or know of someone who does, please contact the church office at 662-234-1757.
