Annual Veteran's Job Fair

NDOL will be hosting our Annual Veteran’s job fair this year with the health and safety of our veterans and business partners in mind. This year it will be a NO CONTACT VETERAN’S JOB FAIR. So what does this look like?  Each employer will have the opportunity to create a written elevator pitch of why jobseekers would want to work for your business. You can talk about the company culture, the benefits, competitive wages, trainings offered, etc. Please include a list of your top job openings and how potential jobseekers (Veterans) should apply. We ask that each employer provide copies of the written elevator pitch/flyers along with your usual job fair swag for 35 jobseekers. NDOL staff will package your materials to hand out to Veterans that come into our office during the week of November 9th-13th. You are welcome to drop the items off at our office (505A Broadway, Suite 300 in Scottsbluff) or mail the items if you prefer. All items will need to be received in our office by November 4th.  Contact Lori Marquez at 308-633-1056 or [email protected] to confirm your participation as we will place a limit of 12 employers.   We look forward to hearing from you soon to highlight your business in this years NO CONTACT JOB FAIR!

$160 million in grants available

With $160 million left unclaimed in the state's CARES Act Relief and Recovery coffers, the Governor rolled out a Phase 2 grant program. Applications will be accepted Wednesday, October 21, through November 13, and grants will be issued by December 30. In addition to the funding outlined in the table, state agencies will receive $100 million as reimbursement for eligible COVID-related expenses, and local governments get expanded support for payroll costs March 1 - May 31. Western Nebraska Community College Career Pathways & Advising office and the Scottsbluff/Gering Chamber of Commerce launch a new podcast series on landing your dream career, right here in Western Nebraska. Each episode will feature local professionals providing tips on how to prepare for a career, hot trends in the area, how to avoid pitfalls, and much more.   Episode 1 - Finding your path to possibilities George Schlothauer with ESU 13 and Lori Marquez with the Nebraska Department of Labor are on the hot seat this episode, answering burning questions submitted by WNCC students and alumni about landing that dream job.
