Cassingham Complex Evacuated Today
The Cassingham Complex experienced a gas leak earlier today, and staff & students were forced to evacuate the building. Our schools evacuated the complex in a safe and responsible manner. We appreciate their cooperation.

Students were outside in the low temperatures today for a short period of time. However, we did see a few children not wearing coats. This is a good reminder to have your children dress for the weather. We understand this may be difficult for some families. Please contact your school's counselor if you are in need of the proper winter clothing for your students. We want to ensure all of our families have the proper resources during the winter months.
When Will We Close School?
For school closings, we consider many factors including:

  1. Weather conditions, both existing and predicted;
  2. Driving conditions affecting public and private transportation facilities;
  3. An actual occurrence or imminent possibility of any emergency condition which would make the operation of schools difficult or dangerous or
  4. Actual and wind chill air temperatures. Generally, schools may be closed when air temperatures measured at the Port Columbus weather station reach -15 degrees Fahrenheit or -22 degrees Fahrenheit or lower sustained wind chill.

The Superintendent weighs these factors and takes action after consulting with traffic and weather authorities and school officials from neighboring districts.

You can read the full Board Policy EBCD here.

An email and all-call to all staff and parents will be sent out using Instant Connect stating that schools are closed. We will then post an alert to our district website and share that our schools are closed on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds. Our local media will also be contacted about our schools being closed.

Health and Safety
Contact Tracing and Case Investigation
The Ohio Department of Health released new guidance regarding contact tracing Wednesday, January 16, 2022.

The quick spread of the Omicron variant has made contact tracing, case investigation, and exposure notification impractical when combined with newly reduced timelines for quarantine and isolation. Per ODH's guidance, we will discontinue universal contact tracing but assist local health departments when needed.

We will continue to follow our “Mask to Stay, Test to Play” protocols that are in place.

To view the complete guidance, please visit:
Our Covid-19 Dashboard will appear on https://www.bexleyschools.org/COVID19.aspx and be updated every Thursday.

BRAVO! Update
The current COVID surge is concerning and was not on our radar when we started planning in Fall 2021 for a March 26, 2022 BRAVO! event. From the start, however, we knew BRAVO! would need to be different this year because of the ongoing pandemic. With the help and guidance of the Bexley Education Foundation Board, volunteers and staff, we believe that we can host an in-person fundraising event, with appropriate health and safety measures in place, and provide virtual event support opportunities, ensuring that all those in our community can participate in a way that feels most comfortable.

This year BRAVO!… for ALL celebrates the strength and resiliency of our school community, especially our teachers. Funds raised from BRAVO! support the BEF’s grants making programs. Virtual support for BRAVO! includes the ability to participate in the online silent auction from anywhere, purchase a BRAVO! “to go” food option, and/or purchase a BRAVO! basket of goodies (quantities limited). For those comfortable with controlled in-person gatherings, the Walter Commons Area at St. Charles has been reserved for the evening and guests (total number to be determined) should be prepared to mask and provide proof of vaccination. There will be table seating available and the various food options will be offered during specific time periods.

Please know that we will continue to monitor the situation and will respond accordingly. If you have any questions about BRAVO! sponsorships and/or donating to the auction, please contact Bexley Education Foundation Executive Director, Pam Glasgow at [email protected] or call (614) 338-2093.
