Salaam y'all,
It's freezing out! First things first, due to weather, tonight's Black Muslim Talk Space has been
POSTPONED to next Thursday (2/27). Also, tomorrow's jum'ah will be in the
usual
location of DuWell, 148-149.
Besides this crazy weather, it's getting to be a hectic and stressful time for many of us (myself included!). I want to use the occasion to share some of my go-to methods for staying grounded and connected to my heart:
1) Reciting my favorite du'a (supplication) for stressful or difficult times:
Rabbi inni maglouben fantasir. O Allah, I am overwhelmed, so help me.
3) Reading poetry. Tomorrow is the 55th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X, so I spent some time reading some of the dozens of poems dedicated to him. Here's my favorite:
The Summer After Malcolm by Larry Neal.
I hope that some of these are helpful for you, and please feel free to send me a message sharing your favorite prayers, songs, poems, or other tools you use to stay grounded through stress and difficulty!
Best,
Maryam
