Do you ever wonder what Engineers were thinking when they planned all the construction projects to occur at the same time and to close all the roads that you need to take to get somewhere? With Wisconsin’s short construction season and multiple jurisdictions trying to complete projects, it can seem like an uncoordinated effort. The construction in New Berlin for 2021 will be one of those kinds of years.
The major construction that has already begun is the Waukesha Water Pipeline installation. The water supply line is being installed on National Avenue, Coffee Road, and Racine Avenue. The water return line is being installed on Racine Avenue, Racine Court, I-43, Small Road, Westridge Drive, and Moorland Road.
Waukesha County plans to complete a resurfacing of Cleveland Avenue from Calhoun Road to 124th Street. Although this will be completed under live traffic, there could be delays as construction equipment progresses down the road.
The City has two major reconstruction projects in 2021, Calhoun Road (from National Avenue to Beloit Road) and the Sunny Slope Road/Grange Avenue intersection. Calhoun Road will be reconstructed to include a paved shoulder, ditch improvements, and a hill cut just north of Beloit Road. The Sunny Slope Road/Grange Avenue intersection will include the addition of turn lanes and traffic signals.
Additional information, including the annual Roadway Rehabilitation plan, can be found on the City’s Website or by contacting Tamara Simonson, City Engineer.
