Camden Ave (Rt 537) / Main Street Bridge Closure Update

The closure of the Camden Ave (Route 537) / Main Street Bridge between Maple Shade and Moorestown has undoubtedly affected businesses and residents alike. Burlington County Engineer, Joseph Brickley, has provided the requested following update as of Tuesday June 6th, 2023:

“Final concrete pour for the repair (was) made this morning (Tuesday June 6th, 2023). Once concrete reaches appropriate strength, (the County) will test the roadway for restoration of car and light traffic.”

The County is hopeful they will be able to do testing next week.

The Township understands the frustration of its residents and business owners, and we apologize for the inconvenience this closure has caused. Township Officials will remain diligent in requesting updates as to the status of the repairs as we all look forward to when the roadway can safely be re-opened.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

During the month of May, the Maple Shade Police Department participated in a ride along program with communications officers from Burlington County Central Communications. The dispatchers were able to get to know the town of Maple Shade and observe how officers respond to and handle calls for service.

This program was developed to help build the relationship between the two agencies, familiarize the dispatchers with the community they may serve and ultimately be able to serve the public even more effectively.

Thank you Burlington County Central for including us in this innovative program, we look forward to serving the community alongside you.

If you are interested in joining the team, Burlington County Central has immediate job openings. Click the photo above for more information.

The Maple Shade Police Department participated in the Distinguished reader program at Howard Yocum School. Books were read, smiles were had, and memories were made with our officers and the special students and teachers who welcomed them into their classrooms.

Tip of the Month

from the MSPD

Did you know when you send a text message while driving you take your eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds? At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed. Aside from the dangers it poses to you and others on the road, the penalties include fines ranging from $200-$800. Don’t drive distracted, arrive alive, the text can wait.

If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please contact Corporal Misty Weiss at Mweiss@mapleshadepd.com.
