Community First, since 1959, has been Doing Good!
Record-Setting Year for the Membership
Sweetheart of a CD Rate Coming!
We love our Members. And to show them how much, on Valentine’s Day, we will make available a limited-time, super-high Share Certificate of Deposit for Members.

Beginning Monday, February 14, and available through Monday, February 28, Community First Members can take advantage of a 24-month CD at 1.22% (APY).

Just how high is the CFCU rate as compared to other banks and credit unions? At press time, here is a local sampling of current Annual Percentage Yields of 24-month CDs:

  • Chase Bank, .02%
  • Wells Fargo, .02%
  • Bank of America, .05%
  • Exchange Bank, .15%
  • Savings Bank of Mendocino, .40%
  • Patelco CU, .40%

As you can see, the lovely APY at Community First will be up to 60x higher than the big banks, and 3x higher than local banks and credit unions. How can you say no to that lofty love?
Arlene Colombini Scholarship Expands to Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties!
Community First’s scholarship program began as an effort to aid and support education in Mendocino and Lake counties. And now we’re excited to announce it will be expanded to graduating high school students in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties.

CFCU will award seven $1,000 scholarships.

Students must have a current 3.0 minimum GPA and also have been accepted to a two- or four-year college. Students are chosen based on a criterion, along with a personal statement that describes their need for this scholarship and their goals in life.

The scholarship is named for Arlene Colombini in recognition of 60-plus years of service to CFCU and her community. Arlene continues on as Community First’s longest-serving volunteer and Board Member.

The scholarship deadline is April 8, 2022.

A Cash-Out Home Loan Opens a World of Possibilities!
It’s no secret that homes have appreciated in the past few years. Your home today is most likely worth a lot more now than it was just 24 to 36 months ago. What does that mean? It means you can tap into the equity of your home’s new higher value. This is commonly done through a home equity line of credit (HELOC) or a cash-out refinance.

A HELOC has a shorter payback period than a mortgage, so the rate is typically higher. Whereas a cash-out refinance is amortized as a new 15- or 30-year first mortgage loan.

A cash-out refinance is a handy option to consolidate old debt, remodel your kitchen, retire a higher education loan, second mortgage ... the possibilities are endless. Community First will make the process easy for you!

We have Mortgage Loan Officers in nearly all of our branches. They are home loan professionals who can walk you through every step of the way and answer any questions you may have.

Shred Days ARE coming... dates TBD
The highly requested and anticipated Shred Days will be coming back this spring!

What are Shred Days? They’re an easy and safe way for you and our local community to destroy old, no-longer-needed, personal documents by our on-site provider.

Personal documents can easily become a target for would-be identity thieves; that’s why Community First is providing FREE community Shred Days as a solution to the problem.

Due to the still-high cases of COVID, we’re shooting to schedule our Shred Days from mid-April through June. Dates are subject to change.

Loving Members since 1959
As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we give back. To our Members, communities, and employees. We buy local, loan local, invest local, and thus support our local economy.

February is the month of love. So how are we loving our Members? With great rates:

Plus, a myriad of other perks. Our fees are lower and fewer than the banks, and we still staff up to give you the kind of personal service the big banks gave up long ago.

So don’t be shy, help us spread the love, and tell a friend of all the great things your credit union (of which you are a part-owner) provides for you. More Members mean we can do even more good –– for you, other Members, local non-profits, and the communities we serve.

And if you’re still not convinced that we have the best rates around, check out other local and national banks/credit unions and see for yourself. Community First provides fiscal love.
