Fuel and Electric Assistance applications are being accepted by Community Action Program Warner Area Center. Call Jill Engel at 603-456-2207 to request a packet, which is then mailed in for processing.
The Warner Area Food Pantry is continuing under the care of Erin Reed and Laurie, in partnership with MainStreet Warner, Inc. under the new "Warner Connects Community Resources". Details of the distribution location are being worked out and will be announced shortly.
New Children's Park opened: MainStreet Warner, Inc. recently announced the Grand Opening of the Children's Park within the Jim Mitchell Community Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on 10/10/20, the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Jim Mitchell Community Park, and the 20th anniversary for MainStreet Warner, Inc. In the Spring of 2021 look for exciting things happening there.
Check the status of your absentee ballot request or return, at the Secretary of State's website. Simply enter your town, legal voting name, and date of birth.
Warner Town Clerk can accept voter registrations and corrections to be submitted for verification on Tuesday, Nov. 3 during Voting Day at Warner Town Hall.

Current cases of Covid-19 in Warner have increased to 46, up 7 from last week. Please take precautions to be safe, and isolate or quarantine for the sake of others if you have been asked to do so or are awaiting test results!
HALLOWEEN Trick-or-Treating
Due to increases in community Covid-19 transmission, Trick -or treating and gatherings are being discouraged. Please be cautious in your choices of activity. Consider borrowing scary stories to share by Zoom, or DVDs for a movie night, and staying home!
Kearsarge Regional School Board has issued a letter about parent Petitions to change student learning location (such as from Remote to In-person). Some classes in some schools are at maximum allowed capacity due both to new families, and changing decisions. Where requests cannot all be granted, there is a protocol for prioritization, as explained in the letter: read details at https://www.kearsarge.org/

Judy Newman-Rogers has started work this week as Administrative Assistant to the Selectmen. She is resigning from her Selectboard position. Anyone interested in being a selectman should contact the office at 456-2289, extension 1.

Hero Appreciation: Postal Workers |

A shout-out to the overworked civil servants of the U. S. Postal Service who are working hard to keep up with the increasing demands of getting our mail to us, while also facing a larger risk of exposure to Covid-19.
I recently noticed a mailbox in my neighborhood that had the front hanging open. Inside was a painted "Thank You" and a gold star, obviously intended for the mail carrier to see. (Note: It is illegal to place objects or unpaid mail inside mailboxes, so this was a creative way to show appreciation, every day).
A large number of homes have recently changed hands, and there is a much larger volume of packages and election mail due to the Pandemic and people working from home. Often the carriers are being asked to work 7 days a week, due to arrangements with Amazon for assisting with Sunday deliveries in nearby towns.
Additionally, there have been some recent employee shortages and changes at the Warner Post Office, with the retirement of Part Time Clerk Teresa, and rotating substitute mail carriers. As new employees learn the long routes, and get familiar with variations in how some people's mail is addressed, you may notice some later delivery times due to the high volume of mail. Let's remember to be understanding of any delays or delivery errors, and maybe find a way to say Thank You, as my neighbors did.

Library Tech Tip: Genealogy |
Proquest Services has extended permission for at-home access to the genealogy resource Ancestry Library Edition (ALE) to December 31, 2020.
Before Covid-19, the ALE licensing only allowed access from the library buildings. Their one condition is that the access must be behind a protected login. Here's how:

To access ALE and HeritageQuest online genealogy resources easily, use your library card number and password to enter your account at our catalog link. Then it is one-click to either of the two genealogy resources subscribed to by the library.
