Racist and homophobic slurs defaced San Dieguito Academy's administration building just hours into the new year.
As
reported, on Monday, school district officials and civil rights groups were prepared to denounce the hate crime. Unfortunately, the calls to rebuke the acts of hate were fractured.
The school district held its own event without inviting participation from impacted communities. We joined the NAACP, educators, some district board members, and students to emphasize that the school has not listened to the community's ongoing concerns about underlying racism on campus.
"What a missed opportunity for the district to actually do a community action and come together," Max Disposti decried.
