Many of you may be traveling this season and be worried about leaving your house unoccupied. Follow the tips below to ease your worry's travel for the holiday season.

  • Set timers on all lights, both indoors and outdoors, to have them come on when it gets dark.
  • Unplug electronics, like televisions or computers, to protect them in case of power surges.
  • Don’t post to social media about being away, it's an open invitation to burglars.
  • Set your alarms and notify your alarm company that you will be away.
  • Pause the delivery of your newspaper and mail, or have a trusted neighbor pick them up for you.
  • Double and triple-check that all of your doors and windows are locked. Don’t forget to check the garage door, even if your garage is detached. Don’t leave any spare keys hidden outside.
  • Trim tree branches to prevent a burglar from being able to climb and having easy access to upstairs windows and patio doors.
  • Make sure your blinds and curtains are closed. You don’t want to advertise to criminals what you have.
  • Secure valuables in a safe deposit box so they aren’t out and visible.
  • Arrange for lawn care either from a friend or through a local service if you plan on being gone for a lengthy time. Neglecting your lawn and allowing leaves to pile up or weeds to overgrow is a clear sign to burglars that the house is empty, making it an easy target.
Package Theft Prevention
The holiday season has officially arrived! And why head out to crowded stores to shop for gifts when you can do it online, right from the comfort of your home? If you are planning to do the majority of your shopping online, you’ll want to protect your packages from “Porch Pirates”. Below are a few simple tricks to protect your deliveries when they arrive:
  • Have your packages delivered somewhere else (for example, to your office);
  • Request that your delivery requires a signature
  • Subscribe to delivery alerts
  • Request nondescriptive packaging on the bigger ticket items
  • Utilize Amazon Hub Lockers
  • Invest in a video doorbell.
Security Checks
Want even more peace of mind when you go out of town? Submit a Security Check Request, and the RPD will drive by your home while you’re away to make sure everything is as it should be! Fill out the request form here.
Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting
The Greater Robinson Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is Tuesday, December 2nd!

The parade will begin at Robinson High School
at 6:30 p.m. crossing over Tate to get to Lyndale. It will then head down Lyndale turning left on Old Robinson Road and finishing up at Peplow Park for the tree lighting. This year's theme is Light Up Christmas and we can't wait to see all of the festive floats!

Not going to make it to the parade but still want to see the tree lighting? We have good news for you! You can view the tree lighting LIVE on our Facebook right here!
Blue Santa
The Robinson Police Department is getting set to host their annual Blue Santa once again this year! Blue Santa helps families in need provide the Christmas they wouldn’t have without the added support during the season. If you know of a Robinson family that would benefit from Blue Santa this year, fill out an application (applications due by December 3rd).

Starting on December 6th, you will be able to come and choose Blue Santa ornaments. And just like last year, you will be able to snag an ornament or two from the wooden Christmas trees that will be outside of the Robinson Police Department. The deadline for donations is December 17th, however, any and all donations are welcome at this time! You can return your donations to the Robinson Police Department, but please remember to return the ornament(s) with the gifts because it helps our staff know which child it belongs to.

For some, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a fresh tree. You might still be hanging your ornaments at this time, but it never hurts to think ahead.
Option One

The city will be providing a roll-off dumpster for residents to dispose of their trees starting the week after Christmas. The dumpster will be located on Strauss behind the Police Department and should ONLY be used for real Christmas tree disposal. Please do not dump artificial trees in the dumpster.
Option Two

Utilize bulk/brush curbside pickup (this is included with your solid waste services). If you choose this option, make sure the branches are no greater than five inches (5”) in diameter and are cut, tied, and bundled in five-foot (5’) lengths. Leave at your curb on your regular collection day, and Waste Management will take it.
Option Three

Bring your tree to one of our monthly Bulk/Brush Days. These are held on the first Saturday of every month (unless a holiday bumps it to the following week). The first Bulk/Brush Day after Christmas will be January 8th from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 5158 South 12th Street, Robinson, TX. You will need to show your most recent water bill and pay a fee of $10 for each trip.
***There will be no disruption to solid waste collection this year, due to the holidays falling on the weekend.***

Robinson Volunteer Fire Department Opening

Founded in 1955, the Robinson Volunteer Fire Department is made up of volunteers from the community to provide fire, EMS, rescue, and educational services for the City of Robinson and the surrounding area. RVFD responds to approximately 1,200 calls/year, which is double the volume since 2018. Due to the increase in call volume, RVFD is looking to grow its membership to best serve our town.
