Early Voting is Here!
Early Voting is underway in North Carolina. As of this writing, nearly 25% of Polk County's registered voters have already cast their ballots. If you are not one of them, we strongly recommend that you make a plan and vote ASAP. At this point, we suggest that you vote early in person (details below). It's the surest way to make sure your vote is counted.
Voters lining up to vote at 8:00am on October 15, the first day of early voting.
If you received a message saying your ballot has been spoiled:
Don't be distressed! There are two common explanations for spoiled ballots:

  • If you requested and received an absentee ballot, but then voted in person instead, the Board of Elections' system will recognize that you have voted and will invalidate (or "spoil") your unused absentee ballot so that no one else can use it. Your in-person vote has simply taken its place.

  • If you received an absentee ballot, voted it, and returned it to the Board of Elections, there may be several possible reasons the ballot could be spoiled. The most common one: If you and your spouse accidentally placed your ballots in each other's assigned envelopes, those ballots cannot be counted and must be spoiled. But take heart! A spoiled ballot doesn't mean you can't vote. Just go to early voting and vote in person.

IMPORTANT: If you have not yet voted at this point, we strongly recommend that you go to early voting if possible. It's less complex than voting by mail, and if anything goes wrong, you can fix it right there during the voting process.

Need to check the status of your absentee ballot? Click here and follow the instructions. Or, go to the Polk Dems website and click on the "Check the Status of Your Absentee Ballot" button.

New Hours at Polk Dems Headquarters:
From now through Election Day, the party HQ building is open and staffed with volunteers between 10:00am and 2:00pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. We're also open from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday through Saturday, except on 10/31.

We 're running low on some signs, but we still have some Biden-Harris signs. Stickers and swag are also available. Since some of these items cost us money, we appreciate a small (but voluntary) donation.

Stop by and share the momentum! The address is 64 Ward Street in Columbus.

We are SOOO grateful for our volunteers!
A HUGE Thank-You to Pat Salomon
Pat Salomon has worked tirelessly to personally recruit and schedule dozens of volunteers during this election season. If you see her, give her a socially distanced "Pat" on the back and thank her on behalf of the forces of goodness and light!
How to Keep Up on Election Night
We usually have a gathering at the HQ building on Election Night, but not this year. Visit the Polk Dems website starting at 7:30pm on November 3, and KEEP REFRESHING it throughout the night. I will post local results as soon as they come in. Every time I get an update, I'll post it. Susannah Hogan will post the same info on the Polk Dems Facebook page.

Asheville Citizen-Times Endorses Moe Davis
From their endorsement article:

“The Democrats have nominated a man with a proven track record as a prosecutor and a professor. The Republicans have nominated someone with virtually no work record and a weak grasp of the issues, to say the least. … Davis is prepared to give Western North Carolina the representation it has been lacking for a decade. Let this be the year we elect the candidate WNC deserves.”
