Geology Rocks!
Mountain Song’s 6th grade Juniper class began exploring the workings of the dynamic earth this week. Mr. Rochette graced the classroom in an exquisite sampling of rocks, minerals, fossils, and crystals. This cornerstone block study of geology and mineralogy will take the 6th grade to the end of the year.
In-School May Day Festival
Next Thursday May 20th
Our in-school May Day Festival is now scheduled for Thursday, May 20th. We are so excited to see this through!

All classes in Grades 1-8 will perform their Maypole dances outdoors next Thursday. We invite families to come to the school to view their child's class performance outdoors from a designated area. Class teachers will resend the performance schedule.

We suggest students wear white or light colored clothing to celebrate the arrival of spring. We look forward to this joyous occasion!

May Day Flower Donations
May 19-20
Please help us adorn our students in beautiful flora for May Day! Bring any flowers, bouquets, or rose petals to school on Wednesday and Thursday, May 19 & 20.  We will have buckets of water ready to receive all flower donations for the children to carry and/or wear for May Day on May 20th!

Thank you!

May Faire Fundraising Campaign - Another Matching Gift!
Thanks to a generous matching gift from the Kilibardas, we exceeded our matching fundraising goal and did it ahead of schedule! In less than thirty hours, we had over 25 donations to our May Faire fundraising campaign and earned the $250 match from the Kilibarda family, raising over $2,300!

Now, we have another matching gift! If an additional thirty people contribute to the campaign by our in-school May Day celebration on May 20th, our principal, Dr. Teresa Woods, and her husband, Dr. Gary Andersen, will contribute another $300!

Your gifts help ensure the future of Mountain Song Community School where Southern Colorado children can learn, grow, and be inspired in the Waldorf tradition for years to come. Donate today so we can secure this matching grant!
May Faire Has Another Sponsor!
We are so grateful to our newest May Faire Sponsor, FirstBank, one of the largest privately held banks in the nation and also one of the largest corporate philanthropists in both Colorado and Arizona. Thank you, FirstBank, for your support of Mountain Song and all you do for our school!

If you own a business, we hope you’ll look into our sponsorship offerings

Healthy Kids and Healthy Schools
Join us in urging our senators to support healthy kids and healthy schools now.

The Senate Agriculture Committee is drafting the next Child Nutrition Reauthorization (or CNR) — a once-in-a-decade opportunity to strengthen laws governing child nutrition programs like school meals.

Four complementary bills have been introduced that, if included in the final CNR, would strengthen connections between local farms, school gardens, classrooms, and the school cafeteria:

The draft of this CNR legislation could be complete before Memorial Day. Let our senators know how important such strong legislation is.

Farm Volunteers Needed!
May slots are open for volunteers in the farm and garden.  Become part of our team! Our greenhouse is flourishing, our garden beds are alive, and our animals seek care and interaction. Families can help by watering plants, feeding animals, and cleaning their habitats.

This is a wonderful way for you and your family to engage with our school garden. If you haven't volunteered in the garden before, please contact Mr. Adam Wright at awright@mountainsongschool.com so he can arrange a time for you to be trained.

Please volunteer using Sign-Up Genius.
