WIN Food Pantry -
Food Donations Needed
There is an acute need for donations of canned foods at the WIN Food Pantry. Because of the pandemic, fewer people have been attending services at their houses of worship, and the collection of food has fallen off considerably. Although monetary donations are always appreciated, in order to provide the needed food the volunteers have to go to the grocery store to purchase those foods and then bring them to the Pantry to shelve them and distribute them to our clients. Volunteer help is limited, and it is not possible for those who are volunteering to be able to keep up with the needs of the community if they have to purchase the food as well as maintain and distribute the canned goods in a timely fashion.
Therefore, we have set up a collection box at the temple so that we can collect canned goods and deliver them to the Pantry. When we attend services, it would be a mitzvah to bring along a couple of cans of food that can be brought to the Pantry. If we go to the temple for any reason – it would be a mitzvah to bring a couple of cans of food that can be brought to the Pantry. Most needed right now are canned fruits and vegetables. I know that the members of Temple Beth Tikvah do not want to let the shelves at the Pantry to be empty. Each of the houses of worship in Wayne is participating in this endeavor. I know from past experience that Temple Beth Tikvah’s congregants take their community responsibilities very seriously, and that we will make every effort to keep those shelves fully stocked.
In advance, thank you for all you do to make this town a better place!

The current food assistance needs in Wayne are greater than any one organization can provide. For this reason, these organizations and food pantries have united efforts to serve Wayne residents during this pandemic and beyond. Many families, senior citizens and single residents are impacted, some for the first time, by the physical, mental and financial strains of this crisis.
Please consider adding something to your shopping list, check your cabinets, and join this effort.
Please click here for a list of needed items and here for more information on how you can help.
