An interactive light sculpture installed earlier this year at a children’s museum draws on the research of Guinevere Eden, PhD, and makes the brain’s representation of reading visible.
Inspired by the kindness, proficiency and dedication of her health care team at Georgetown Lombardi, Maryland resident Glynda Brown felt determined to “pay it forward” and make a positive difference for future patients by participating in a clinical trial after she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.
Amanda Boys (G’14, G’21) and Shannon Lyons (G’21), students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, have been selected for the Digital Innovators Program of the Graduate Nursing Student Academy of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

A new, free resource to support the emotional wellness of students will provide access to 24/7/365 telemental health services from anywhere in the United States. HoyaWell counselors and psychiatrists are specialized in serving college and university students. Its services supplement mental health, wellness and health care resources offered by the University, including Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS). Learn more here.
Study Spaces Available for GUMC Students
Starting February 1, Biomedical Graduate Education and School of Medicine students, and graduate students at the School of Nursing & Health Studies, will have access to study spaces in the Dahlgren Memorial Library. Study spaces must be reserved and are for individual use only (i.e., no group studying is permitted). Before coming to campus, you must be in compliance with the University’s public health protocols including COVID-19 testing. Learn more here.
Additionally, students will be able to book study spaces at WeWork, a co-working space with locations in 80 cities around the world. You must sign up for your membership at least two business days before the end of the month for the membership to start working the following next month. The Georgetown Global Health Initiative student fellows program is an opportunity for talented undergraduate and graduate students to work with faculty on research projects, to participate in global health-related events, and to network with one another and scholars in the global health field. ​All full-time and part-time Georgetown undergraduate and graduate students, across schools, are eligible to apply. On Saturday, February 6, access to Reservoir Road via East-West Road will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The closure will facilitate the installation of new MRI equipment in the New Research Building.
