Dear RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown Friends,

December is a special time filled with making new memories and pausing to reflect as the year comes to a close. As I reflect on 2021, words like gratitude, compassion and generosity overwhelmingly come to mind—because of you. Because of you, we helped over 600 families find comfort in our Pittsburgh and Morgantown Houses. Because of you, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile made more than 145 visits, providing care to over 770 children. Because of you, the Meal Fund served more than 550 of meals. On behalf of each and every family we serve, thank you.

You are part of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh & Morgantown family, too. We appreciate everything you do to support the mission and the families all year long. From donating to the online auctions throughout the year to mobilizing your networks to hosting a fundraiser to collecting pull tabs and building welcome bags, laundry kits and so many other things—your dedication is inspiring.

And your generosity does not stop there. Because of you, families who are away from home this time of year are still able to enjoy the magic of the holiday season. Your donations of meals, sweet treats, gifts and toys for our North Pole and special holiday trimmings bring so much comfort to those who can’t be home for the holidays. Your thoughtfulness means so much.

While COVID-related restrictions limited our ability to be together, we maintained a tremendous sense of community. We proved that being connected at heart is powerful in its own way and being together in person will be that much sweeter when it happens.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with moments of gratitude and wonder. Thank you for being part of our family.

Reasons to Smile
We are grateful for all the ways the community comes together to show support of RMHC and its families. Here are a few.
We did it! Your votes helped secure $10,000 for the families at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown!

Howard Hanna Insurance Services won a Make More Happen Award for their work with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, which earned them a $5,000 donation for the Charity from Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance. But we had one more challenge: Get 500 votes on our volunteering story and the donation would double.

Thank you for helping reach that goal! As a result, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown received $10,000 to continue their mission to provide a place of comfort for seriously-ill or injured children and their families while they receive medical treatment at area facilities.

Thank you for voting!
Our young professionals’ group, the Red Shoe Society, is bringing the holiday spirit to our Houses by holding an ornament collection drive. The ornaments will be given to families to enjoy throughout the holiday season.
In honor of their warrior, Nora, the Caporali family donated 475 pairs of pajamas to RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown. This extra cozy donation will bring warm smiles to all of our families.
The Pittsburgh Foundation is ensuring children in the Greater Pittsburgh region have access to medical care by awarding a grant to the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile travels to underserved communities to bring children vital medical services including eye care, immunizations, well visits, lead screenings and much more.
The talented volunteers who make up Amazing Grace Pillowcase, Inc. brought added comfort to RMHC families by donating over 70 handmade, colorful pillowcases.
The VFW Auxiliary Post #784 collected over 200 lbs. of pull tabs for RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown!
Be the Constant! Help Families Feel at Home,
Even When They Can’t Be
For more than 40 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown has been supporting families whose children need medical care. Whether a family relies on us for a place to call home or visits the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in their own community, we are committed to being there.

In 2021, Julie and Eyad called the Ronald McDonald House home when their daughter, Zarafa, was born weighing just 4 pounds 15 ounces. The Ronald McDonald House became the one constant on a journey that took them to three hospitals, nearly two hours from home, to get the care their daughter needed. With each and every move Zarafa needed to make, Julie and Eyad were always by her side because they stayed at the Ronald McDonald House.

Please consider helping RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown be the constant that families need. Your gift can help twice as many families.

All gifts up to $50,000 will be matched by The Rutledge Family Foundation.
Red Shoe Ball Celebrates RMHC Families
Thank you to everyone who celebrated the families and mission of the Ronald McDonald House by participating in our reimagined Red Shoe Ball. Hosted by Paul Martino, the virtual program included stories of hope and courage as well as a special guest appearance by Ronald McDonald who provided a personal tour of the Houses. And of course, the event would not be complete without the annual Red Shoe Ball Auction which featured more than 80 items for participants to bid on.

We are grateful to our mission partners whose support made this event possible. Their continuous commitment to our mission ensures families have a place to call home even when they can’t be.

Although we could not be together in-person this year, it goes without saying that we were together in spirit helping families in need. Raising nearly $100,000, your generosity is truly why we can keep hundreds of families together each year. We can’t do it without you.
