Absentee Ballot Reminders
Election Day is two weeks away, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022!

If you received an absentee ballot in the mail, please be sure to return it signed and sealed in the green envelope at your earliest convenience to avoid potential mail delays. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Clerk's Office before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, August 2, 2022.

Completed absentee ballots may also be returned to one of two drop boxes located behind City Hall at 151 Martin Street. A walk-up drop box is located near the rear entrance doors and a drive-up drop box is located in the driveway off of Henrietta Street.

Absentee Ballot Reminders:
Please review these reminders before completing and returning your absentee ballot.

  • Be careful if there are multiple absentee voters in your household - you may only use the absentee ballot that was issued to you.
  • Take your time to study your absentee ballot and read all of the instructions.
  • Use a black or blue ink pen to complete your absentee ballot (no pencil).
  • Do not use white-out or stickers on your absentee ballot.
  • If you make a mistake on your absentee ballot, please visit the Clerk's Office to spoil your absentee ballot and get a new one.
  • For the August Primary, you may not split your ticket by crossing party lines. There are two columns on the absentee ballot and voters may only select candidates from one party column for this election. Winning candidates from the August primary will appear on the November ballot with the exception of precinct delegates.
  • Be sure to sign your green absentee ballot return envelope.
  • Absentee ballots may be returned by mail (postage for your absentee ballot is 58 cents or one "forever stamp") or to one of two drop boxes located behind City Hall. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Clerk's Office before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, August 2, 2022.
  • Visit mi.gov/vote to track your ballot.
