District 1 Residents and Businesses:
Thank you for the support you’ve shown since I started this informational newsletter eight months ago. It was intended to create transparency on things happening within Los Alamitos and our district to keep you up to date. The results of the November election were certified on November 25, and I fell 16 votes short for re-election. Voters chose Tanya Doby to represent this district. As such, as of December 14th, I will no longer be on the City Council, and will not have access to information that I’ve been sharing with you. I have been honored to serve the citizens of Los Alamitos, being elected in 2006, 2012 and 2018. It has been an incredible opportunity, but with the next District elections, this area will not be up for election until 2024, and I never say never, but doubt that I’ll be a candidate at that time.
Sadly, some of the area positions that I was successful in seeking as an elected official appear like they will not include a Los Alamitos council member. This was as a Regional Council representative with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), representing Los Alamitos, Stanton, La Palma and Westminster and on the SCAG Transportation Committee; also as a member of the Orange County
Council of Governments; and the Orange County Emergency Medical Care Committee. Earlier this month I was selected by cities within the Orange County Supervisorial District 2, as their representative on the Orange County Transportation Agency. These positions will be opened to cities with those areas.
As a 34 year resident of District 1, I will continue to be a volunteer and willing to help my fellow neighbors in any manner I can. Please accept my sincere best wishes for the upcoming Christmas season and hopefully the solution of this COVID pandemic. Blessings and prayers to each of you.
God Bless you and God Bless America.
