The Rev. Dena McPhetres
The Rev. Kimberlee Tomczak Carlson, Minister of Religious Education
Tristan Strelitzer, Choral Director
Miles Schuller, Worship Associate

Imagining a new year, a new start, is a risk in and of itself. How do we prepare to take a running jump into imagining a new life together? There is an interplay between vulnerability and protection as we learned on a whole new level in the year 2020. How can we use that experience and wisdom as we enter the year 2021? We may need to let go of “yes, but” and jump into “yes, and” while using our imagination with courage.

SUNDAY MORNING FORUM AT 11:00 A.M.
“Militarism and Climate Change,“ presented by Julie Byrnes Enslow, Peace Action Wisconsin Founder & 350.org Milwaukee Facilitator.

We live in perhaps the most challenging time in human history. We face existential threats to our future life on this planet: nuclear war and climate change. The links between militarism and global warming with the resulting climate change are clear. The US military is the greatest contributor of greenhouse gas of any single entity. Wars are fought for control of oil and oil is needed to fight those wars. The social upheavals caused by droughts, floods, hurricanes, rising oceans, heat waves, etc. often result in a military response. On Zoom & YouTube Live HERE
JANUARY SHARE THE PLATE. Peace Action of Wisconsin is our January Share the Plate recipient. Their mission statement reads: “Peace Action-Wisconsin is a peace and justice
organization which works to abolish the threats of war and nuclear weapons. We are committed to non-violence as a way of life for a world where human needs are met and the environment is preserved.” Give to Peace Action at t https://www.peaceactionwi.org/calendar_basic.
COVID CANDLE ON SUNDAYS. Because of the ways our lives are touched by loss and grief during the global pandemic, we have a simple ritual during Sunday worship called the “COVID Candle” when it is needed. During this unique time, when people cannot gather with their family and community to mourn, we offer to light the COVID Candle for any death of a loved one of one of our members. If you have had a loved one die from COVID-19, or any other cause of death, and would like the COVID Candle lit in their honor during Sunday worship, please contact Rev. Dena.
