I have a confession. My Christmas decorations are still up. Normally we would take everything down the first weekend in January, but here we are, mid-January, and the urge to pack it away hasn't quite hit.
Is it lack of motivation? Quite possibly.
But, I think it's something more. As eager as we were to turn the page on 2020, I think we needed to hold on to the peace of the season just a little longer.
Also, even though the calendar has flipped, not much else has changed. That fresh start that usually accompanies the New Year feels a little delayed this year.
I've noticed some of our neighbors still turn on their outside lights each night. Maybe it's serving as a reminder that we're not alone.
It's important to remember you're not alone in your business either.
I've seen so many examples of business owners working together and supporting each other this past year. Also, as you set your goals for 2021, remember the Chamber can help whether you want to learn something new, connect with other businesses, boost your visibility in the community, and more. too.
I think 2021 will be a year of resolve, not resolutions. Determination and ongoing action, not wishful thinking in a fleeting moment, will guide us through the unknowns of the coming year. Use the tools at your disposal and reach out for help when you need it.
Set achievable and time-based goals and don't forget to celebrate the little victories along the way.
For example, this weekend, I will take down the tree.
But maybe I'll leave a few lights up this year. After all, It'll be November again before we know it.
