Children are always welcome in worship! During the service nursery care is also available, and Summer Sunday School meets at 10:00 a.m. as well.

This Sunday, June 11 please join us in welcoming as our guest preacher Mx. Slats Toole.

A writer, educator, preacher, and theater director/sound designer based in Minneapolis, Slats holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a Master of Divinity and Certificate in Theology, Women, and Gender from Princeton Theological Seminary.

They currently serve as co-moderator of the board of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. Slats is also a published author and has led workshops on expansive language and queer theology (with a particular emphasis on gender identity) throughout the United States and Canada. Slats’ work centers around creating space in the church where all are welcomed, embraced, and loved.

The Covenant Network, of which Slats Toole is co-moderator, works for an equity still not fully realized for LGBTQIA+ people in church and society.

Fourth Church has had a consistent presence on the Covenant Network board—on which Senior Associate Pastor Lucy Forster-Smith currently serves—since John M. Buchanan was one of the founding co-moderators of the group in 1997.

We are in need of Sunday morning Cookie Table Hosts, Servers, and Hospitality Coordinators.

If you are able to help, please sign up online or email Simon Crow.

You can also explore other volunteer opportunities by visiting VOMO, our Volunteer Ministry software platform, at www.bit.ly/fpcvolunteers or by contacting Director of Volunteer Ministry Robert Crouch (312.981.3382).

If you have not yet had opportunity to watch the first in our June “Rhythm and Word” video series, we encourage you to take ten minutes to do so by clicking on the image below.

Each week in June Rocky Supinger will be leading us in reflecting on Gospel stories in which Jesus initiated public relationships with people in order to make a connection with them, to confront them, and to exchange talent and energy with them for the sake of some kind of shared action.

A new video in the series is released each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. on our YouTube channel. You can also sign up to receive the videos by email

If you are a Fourth Church member and have not done so already, please take a few moments to complete the Census form mailed to member homes and return it by this coming Thursday, June 15.

Your doing so will help in our ongoing effort to paint the picture of who Fourth Church is today and provide information that will help us strengthen connections in our community!

If you would like to submit a prayer request to our Morning Prayer or Deacon Prayer Ministries, please email caringministries@fourthchurch.org

If you would like to join in praying for others—members of Fourth Church and those in need—we invite you to gather with us for Wednesday Morning Prayer at 9:30 a.m. via Zoom or at 10:00 a.m. in person. For Zoom details, email Nancy Benson-Nicol.

If you would like to talk to a pastor, please call the church (312.787.4570) and your request will be forwarded to someone on the pastoral staff.

If you would like to alert pastoral staff to emerging pastoral care needs, please email caringministries@fourthchurch.org; however if the situation is an emergency or requires immediate attention, please call the church at 312.787.4570 to be connected to the Minister on Call.

For one-to-one spiritual and emotional support through life challenges, we encourage you to consider being paired with a Stephen Minister. To learn more about this resource, contact Nancy Benson-Nicol, Associate Pastor for Caring Ministries and Spiritual Formation, or leave a confidential message for a Stephen Minister at 312.573.3365.

To set up a time to talk or for more information about how the staff of the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being can be a resource for you, call the Center at 312.787.2729, ext. 2260.

If you know someone who would like to receive email updates from us but currently is not, please encourage them to add their email address to our distribution list by signing up at www.bit.ly/newsfromfpc
