Cover Story: Shops, yards, booths abuzz with winter repair activity
|
Contrary to common belief – especially those of non-industry thinkers – the months of winter and early spring for a boatyard (at least for the Haven Harbour Marina and Haven Harbour South boatyards) are abuzz with various maintenance projects and repair activities.
Whether it be the painting of hulls, re-power of engines, repair of teak, or installation of new electronics, the boating off-season is primetime for owners to enhance their vessels in preparation for the season ahead – and for Haven Harbour Yacht Services to help check off numerous vessel improvement wish lists.
A brief update on our current yacht service goings-on include the topside restoration of a 30' 1969 Allied, the hull-side painting of a Beneteau Sense 46, new electronic installs on both a Beneteau 36 and a Jeanneau 42, the installation of a FLIR thermal camera aboard a SeaRay 560, as well as a battery bank upgrade to a 46' 2016 Bavaria. A number of engine re-powers currently in the works include those aboard 40' and 35' Hinckleys, as well as on a 28' Alerion. A complete re-power and drive replacement to a 31' Rinker is happening, as are installations of three dinghy and solar arches to various vessels.

Training Day: Haven Harbour team receives Dockmaster instruction
|
This week, the Haven Harbour team received on-site training provided by Dockmaster, a dockage management software platform used not only by our marinas, service department and inn, but by thousands of marine companies and service operations across the country. Dockmaster allows our team to store and track reservations, maintain customer files and work orders, and document employee time on said work orders.
Their training this week consisted of four total sessions regarding the deployment of the platform's mobile app – an opportunity for our growing company to use new technology in entering a less paper-driven environment.
