Climbing for GGO with Upper Limits

on Earth Day, April 22nd!

April 22, in honor of Earth Day, Upper Limits is donating 50% of all day pass profits from 10am-1pm

Programming Highlights

Chicago Students get in Touch with Their Wild Sides and Find Their Inner Peace!

Chicago students enjoyed a beautiful day at the Brookfield Zoo where they saw:

Lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) roaming around in the midwestern frost
Indoor exhibits that showcased the glamorous world of monkeys and apes!

Chicago students practiced mindfulness earlier this month when they were led through a yoga and healthy eating lesson where they discovered:

the various types of movement and why its important to stay active.
the different food groups and the importance of eating a varied and balanced diet.

We love encouraging students to become happy and healthy!

St. Louis Students Join the Pack and Explore the Force of Nature!

St. Louis students explored the Endangered Wolf Center where they learned:

That wolves are a key component within the ecosystem
The wolf's place in the food web
Why it's important to help regrow wolf populations!

St. Louis students were introduced to geology this month in a lesson focused on the processes of weathering and erosion! Student experiments included:

Comparing the durability of limestone, chalk, and steel by subjecting the substances to different stressors.
Using sandpaper on each substance to show the process of weathering.
Immersing each substance in vinegar to show the process of erosion.

Such a fun and interesting experiment that allowed students to observe the weathering and eroding processes that all substances are subjected to over the course of time!

Meet Camden!

Camden is a first year at UChicago and is double majoring in Chemistry and Media Arts and Design. This is his first year being a part of GGO, but he has been volunteering since his very first quarter at college!

Getting the chance to interact with the local community and to teach students more about the environment and how to properly interact with it!

Backpacking, going on hikes, and climbing trees!
