Hello UTUUC!

Happy Holidays!

Thanks to all of you who attended our Annual Meeting this past weekend, December 12, 2021. A huge thank you to the tech team who made this happen with a special shout out to Alison Price! Our meeting was efficient, and very informative!

The Board held our second in person/hybrid board meeting on Thursday, December 14, 2021. Here are some things we would like you to know:
We will be taking this month off from Reflecting with the Board sessions. It has been a busy month and we appreciate the time! Reflecting with the Board sessions will resume in January, 2022.
We will have Rev. Pyle Town Hall watch parties during our usual Reflecting times. They will be at 1019 on Sunday, December 19, 1pm-3pm and Monday, December 20, 7pm-9pm. Please see below for more information.
We welcomed our new board members Michael Weekes, Matt Bruce, Aimee Conrad, and Sandy Meyer. So happy to have you all!!
We said thank you to Teresa (Terri) Powell who stepped in while the Nominating Committee found a permanent replacement to fill the term of Alice Ocrey. Thank you so very much, Terri!! Your willingness to step in and help is much appreciated as well as your vast knowledge and experience. Michael Weekes will complete the remainder of this Board term and immediately became a voting member of the Board.
The Board approved charters from both the Stewardship/Development Committee and the Finance & Investment Committee. Work continues on the formation of a Buildings and Grounds Committee and its charter.
Our ad hoc E-Team structure review committee reported in on their work. We decided this item would be tabled while we work with Rev. Dawn to examine the implications of this structure. The Board feels this is a larger conversation that will likely impact us going forward and we need to take the time to attend to it intentionally.
The Board continues to uncover the extent of the “deferred maintenance” that has occurred over the last years. We discussed how to move forward with coming to terms with our history, providing ways that outgoing board members could “transfer” their knowledge to a new Board, and how to begin to create a complete and up to date Policy Manual. There is a lot to do.
Watch Party for Rev. Pyle Community Town Hall Meeting
Thank you to all who were able to attend our Community Town Hall Meeting with Reverend David Pyle on Dec 5, 2021. A huge thank you to Rev. Pyle for leading our discussion and helping us all navigate our ministerial transitions together. We are very grateful.

We have recorded the Community Town Hall Meeting with Rev. Pyle so that those who were unable to attend could watch the session. As a guiding principle, we want to be careful about distribution in order to protect the privacy of the people who attended and due to the sensitive nature of the content.

Therefore, we will have two watch parties this coming weekend, in person at 1019 South Blvd, Community Center.

Please note the Town Hall with Rev. Pyle did last about 2 hours
Sunday, December 19, 1pm-3pm and
Monday, December 20, 7pm-9pm

Please email bot@unitytemple.org or call and leave a message on the UTUUC voicemail at 708.848.6225 if you plan to attend one of these watch parties. In conjunction with our COVID protocols, all attendees will need to be vaccinated and masked. Thank you!
