Advanced Water Purification Demonstration Project   
The Demonstration Project evaluated the feasibility of the Advanced Water Purification Program's treatment process from April 2015 through April 2016.

The facility produced approximately 100,000 gallons of purified water each day for testing purposes to ensure it meets the public health objectives to earn approval from the State Water Resources Control Board's Division of Drinking Water.

More than 4,500 water quality tests were completed and found that the facility successfully met or exceeded water quality standards.
 
Funding for the Demonstration Facility was provided through a $3 million grant.
 
About the East County Advanced Water Purification Program
The East County Advanced Water Purification Program will create a new, local, sustainable and drought proof drinking water supply using state-of-the-art technology to purify East County's recycled water. If the program moves forward, it will meet approximately 25-30 percent of East County's current drinking water demands.

Padre Dam Municipal Water District is working with program partners Helix Water District, the City of El Cajon and County of San Diego to continue studies and planning for this Program.

Padre Dam has secured more than $10.5 million in grant funding for the full-scale program to date.
