May 28, 2021
Hi folks,

Well, for some reason Mother Nature didn't want us to spend this final Friday outdoors. Regardless, we plan to make the most of it as our 6th and 7th graders wrap up their studies and clean out their backpacks, and our 8th graders will walk the NBJH halls for the final time as they prepare for Sunday's graduation ceremony.

We can't say enough about how supportive our NBJH families have been this year as we navigated through fairly rough spots along the way. "A year like no other" as I've heard said many times...but hopefully it was still a year of growth and development for your child. We look forward to more of a typical school year next year, and we will certainly share our plans as we make decisions this summer.

We wish all of our families a safe, happy and healthy summer.

Take care,
Scott

Shout Outs
A HUGE thank you to Cari Raymond, our PTO and all of our parent volunteers for their efforts in helping our 8th graders celebrate their last few days here. Even though we won't have inflatables and a dunk tank today, the lunch, blizzards, movie and T-shirts will be a nice way for our kids to spend their last Friday with their classmates.

Materials Return
Our 8th graders should have their materials returned by today. For most that includes a math textbook, library books, iPad, charger and sleeping bag. We will not distribute yearbooks until materials are returned.
Our 6th and 7th graders are returning their materials today and Tuesday. They also need to return any textbooks, library books, iPad and sleeping bag. Students who are returning to NBJH next year do not need to return their charger.

Trojan Times
Our 6th graders in the Publishing with Purpose class finalized our second semester edition of our school newspaper. Families can read the Trojan Times here.

Digital Art Show
Mr. Hay has created a display of artwork from his in-person and RLA students this year. Please check out the NBJH Digital Art Show when you get a chance. There is some really impressive artwork here!

Remote Learning Academy News
Dear RLA Parents,

You are a special group of parents who have lived the ups and downs of an entire school year literally beside your children. We are grateful for everything you did to help at home, while juggling all of your regular responsibilities, to ensure we could provide a new way to educate your children.

Thank you for helping to teach your child perseverance. Thank you for stepping in when needed and stepping back as required to help your child grow into a more independent learner. Thank you for your ever-present support for our staff so that they could do magic with your children. None of us were sure how this year would go (since living through a pandemic was new for all of us), and none of us could have imagined how extraordinary our teamwork would be.

We wish you a wonderful summer and well-earned break for you and your children. We look forward to seeing you back at school next year!

Gratefully,

District 28 Administrators and RLA Staff
