AUGUST PARENT NEWS
Dear Parents,

As summer winds down and we embark on a new academic year, we prayerfully launch our young adults into their next season of life. Personally, I am looking forward to witnessing the continued growth of my daughter as she begins her third year at Northwestern. What a joy it's been to be on this journey with her, at my alma mater!

Thirty-three years ago I stepped onto campus as a new student, excited and anxious for new memories. Now I am back to the place that helped shape who I am today.

Our Parent Engagement team is here to be a resource for you. Our goal is to provide you and your student support for a seamless transition to life at Northwestern - whether it's their first year, fifth year, a transfer, or a dual enrolled student.

This is a big week on campus - lots of energy as our staff, faculty, and student leaders prepare for our students to arrive!

New parents, we are excited for you to arrive this week for Parent Orientation. Plan to join us this Friday, August 20 for a welcome session, parent tips, worship, and comedy. I look forward to connecting with you!

In His Service,

Angel

PARENT BLOG
Our UNW Eagles are returning to the nest and while UNW staff and faculty have absolute confidence that we will have another successful year on campus, we are also expecting continued uncertainty regarding COVID-19. As parents and guardians sending our students off to college, sometimes for the first time, we long for a reassurance of safety and security as we approach the school year. While confidence may be shaky, our assurance in Christ is absolute.
PARENT INFORMATION
We have been busy planning and getting ready for your student's arrival. There will be many opportunities to learn about the UNW community in the days ahead. Events have been specifically planned for the different groups who are participating in New Student Orientation. Make sure you and your student are familiar with the schedule.

Would you like the fellowship and support of a dynamic group of praying moms? Throughout the year, UNW moms pray for leaders, faculty, staff, departments, events, sports, clubs, and campus safety and health, along with the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and academic needs of our students.
Academic Achievement staff are excited to meet your student on new-student move-in days! If you miss us, have your student check out our portal on the Student Academics tab of theROCK. They will find tutoring schedules, writing support, academic-success workshop information, and other valuable resources. New this year, we are offering targeted support for first-generation college students!

Contact us for Disability Service inquiries, first-generation support, or with any questions related to academic services.
The best time for a student to start growing in their professional development is when they begin their college journey. The Career Development team is busy preparing numerous opportunities for students to prepare themselves professionally and connect with alumni professionals. Please encourage your student to connect with us on Handshake or via email. We look forward to serving them!
Financial aid began to post Aug 16. If aid is not visible, call 651-631-5212 to inquire. Enroll in a payment plan by Aug 30 or pay in full by Aug 31 to avoid a late fee. Questions? Call 651-631-5352. UNW now offers direct deposit for Parent Plus refunds for parents. To enroll, select the e-refunds tab in the authorized user login and follow prompts.
If your student is planning to take less than 15 traditional undergraduate credits for fall '21, financial aid may be reduced. We will be monitoring credits and we will reach out to your student if we do need to reduce aid.
Remind your son or daughter, if they haven't already, to order their fall textbooks as soon as possible for the best chance at used books and to ensure their books will be available before the semester begins. If they didn't order their books online, they can pick-up their online order for free when they move to campus, or they can have it shipped if preferred.
