66th Wyoming Legislature

The Legislature will reconvene on January 27th via Zoom for eight days to consider the worked committee bills. Those on our radar are below with their estimated hearing days. Links are provided below to find out more. You can find the list of all the committees, meeting times, agendas and bills here. If you have any questions at all on how to tune in or about the bills themselves, please connect with Tara Muir, our public policy director at her cell phone:  402-871-4979.

We intend to be more attentive to revenue producing bills, particularly in light of the pandemic and Wyoming's budget crisis. Our programs have felt the cuts deeply, and people in need across Wyoming are hurting. Feel free to review the Joint Revenue and Corporations Committees agendas and related bills. Several are specifically listed on our our trusty WCADVSA tracking spreadsheet but not listed below. Feel free to check it out and give Tara Muir, our public poilcy director any feedback.

2021 Joint Committee Bills - of interest

Tuesday, Jan. 19th, 1:30 PM
Senate Revenue Committee

SF0027 Essential Health Product Dignity Act - establishing a tax exemption for feminine hygiene products and diapers. (part of our economic justice thinking - we're listening in!)

Wednesday, Jan. 20th, 1:30 PM
Senate Labor, Health & Social Services Committee

SF0054 Statewide health information exchange-codification. (listening in for survivors' privacy concerns)

SF0051 Community health center and rural health clinic assistance. (listening in for survivors' access to services)

SF0052 Insurance-mental health and substance use parity. (listening in for survivors' access to services)

Wednesday, Jan. 20th, 1:30 PM
Senate Education Committee

HB0062  Suicide prevention. This bill seeks to mandate suicide prevention education in Wyoming. Some discussion may occur to also consider mandating child sexual abuse prevention education and CPR training for students in K-12.

Many of you may recall when Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education was passed a couple of years ago, it is only permissive - school districts MAY proceed with this type of education. Also unfortunately, an opt-in provision was mandated if the education was offered.

You can click on the bill numbers in the chart above and go directly to the Wyoming State Legislative website, and land right on the actual bill. Check out the digest for voting records and other tasty morsels, as well as the different pdfs and versions of the bill and amendments. Slowly but surely you'll be an expert!
