Thank you everyone who has filled out the survey, we have heard from over 75% of Madrone Trail families. If you have not already done so, please take a minute to fill it out, there is a link below. This will help us in planning our reopening going forward. Please fill it out for each student
Overview of the Week: We have had many questions about how the week will look like. For those that are returning, we will be assigning students to Group A (Monday/Tuesday) or Group B (Thursday/Friday). We will ensure that siblings will be in the same group, unless specifically requested to be separated. If you have a strong preference for Group A or Group B because of scheduling issues, let your class teacher know and we will do our best to honor it. On the other two days, students will still be required to complete schoolwork. Teachers will deliver content on those days in a variety of ways depending on grade level. Some examples are pre-recorded videos, shortened live zooms, and/or written assignments. On Wednesdays, all students will do CDL (Comprehensive Distance Learning) like we have been doing all year at the same time normally scheduled (excluding specialties.)
For students who are continuing to do CDL, we are still in the planning phase on how to deliver class content to them while also teaching in person. We are confident we will be able to come up with a plan that works for all. For specialty classes, we will need to adjust the schedule and combine classes so we can continue to offer them online.
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures: We will not be offering before or aftercare when we return in March. Students will need to be dropped off between 8:15-8:30 am and picked up between 3:15-3:30 pm. Due to safety guidelines from the state, parents/guardians will not be able to park and walk students onto campus (except for Kindergartners). We will be creating a flow of traffic and procedures for wellness checks for students to enter campus. We will not be using thermometers to check temperatures upon arrival. For schools that have already opened, they have proven ineffective and inaccurate, and create more problems than they solve.
For pick up in the afternoon, parents will not be able to park and walk in to pick up their students (except for Kindergartners) and instead will form a pick up line. Students will stay in classrooms and be called when parents arrive. We are working on how to best streamline this process.
Bus transportation: We have yet to hear back from First Student, the company we get our bus service through, to see what we will be offered in the way of bus service. If we are unable to get busses for all four days we are open, we may have to group bus riders on the same days to accommodate their schedule. If we are unable to get busses we will let you know ASAP, as we know this will impact some students' ability to get to school.
Visitors and Volunteers on Campus: Due to the current guidelines, visitors and volunteers will not be allowed on campus.
We will have more updates throughout the month. We know everyone is eager to hear how it will all work and have many questions. We are planning on having a Q & A zoom session after our in-service days, so we have more information to offer.
As always, Mr. Bissey and I are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to reach out to us via email or phone.
