Comprised of 14 students leading the House System within our school community, the members of the leadership team have specific leadership initiatives they are focusing on and implementing in conjunction with the School Captains, House Director, House Deans, and School Administration throughout the school year.

AP Tests
CollegeBoard Advanced Placement (AP) Exams will take place May 2nd - 12th. All AP exams are mandatory with the exception of AP US Government, AP French, AP Italian and AP Physics (this year only). Please see our school calendar for dates of exams by subject. Contact Lauren Gruenwald at [email protected] with any questions. 
Scholarship Deadlines
Attention Juniors and Seniors! There are upcoming deadlines for two scholarships! Please read and mark your calendars.


The Kate (Selegue) Delker Scholarship
 
This scholarship fund was established in honor and memory of Kate (Selegue) Delker, a 1982 graduate of Bishop Hartley High School. This scholarship is open to Bishop Hartley seniors pursuing a degree of higher education at any college or university.

The selection committee will award one recipient a one-time scholarship, in the amount of $2,000, issued in the name of the selected university. These funds are to be used for college tuition, supplies, and room and board.

Applications are available in the School Counseling office or electronically – please email Mr. Franz at [email protected] for an electronic copy. The deadline for receipt of this application is May 9, 2022 by 3:00 pm. Submit the completed application either in person or via email to Mr. Franz.


Jennifer Whitlatch Memorial Scholarship
 
Friends and family of Bishop Hartley alum, Jennifer Whitlatch, have established a scholarship in her memory. Jennifer graduated from Bishop Hartley in 1993.

Bishop Hartley juniors who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to attend a four-year college are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Applications are available in the School Counseling office or electronically – please email Mr. Franz at [email protected] for an electronic copy. The deadline for receipt of this application is May 11, 2022, 3:00 pm. Submit the completed application either in person or via email to Mr. Franz.
Warm Weather Dress will begin Wednesday, May 4
It's WARM WEATHER DRESS TIME! Almost. Please note...the hand book states May 1; however, we will be in normal dress for Monday, May 2 and Founders' Day Mass on Tuesday, May 3. This has been announced to all students.

From the handbook (see page 91):

School-Issued House Lanyard and ID MUST be worn every day.

Navy or khaki walking shorts, purchased from School Days with the Hartley Logo. Shorts must have at least a seven-inch inseam or be no shorter than four inches above the knees and must be worn at the waist and with a brown or black dress belt.

Polo Shirt or House Polo that has the school branding, Hartley with the swoosh, or team or club related. The shirts must be worn tucked in.

In addition, the uniform polo shirt may be worn with the jumper and pants, for the young women, and with uniform pants, for the young men, during this time. The tie is optional with warm weather attire. Only the top shirt/blouse button may be unbuttoned.

If a student does not utilize the warm weather dress code, he/she must follow the guidelines for October 1 through April 30.
Prom
An email with Prom reminders and table registration information was sent to all juniors and seniors. Table registrations must be completed by Wednesday, May 4th. Please see Mrs. Klein in the Advancement Office with any questions.  



Grandparents' Day
We are excited to host the grandparents of the Class of 2022 on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at our Founders' Day Mass. 

We are asking students who park in the front lot to park at the Christ United Methodist Church on Zettler Rd. on Tuesday, May 3rd, so we can accommodate the guests we have visiting campus that morning.  
Graduation
Graduation Information

Graduation for the Class of 2022 will be held Saturday, May 28 at 10 m on Jack Ryan Field. More information about tickets and events leading up will be forthcoming in the next few weeks with our senior letter home to students and parents.

Student Artwork on Display
Hawk Senior, Charlottes Chamberlain, has a sculpture now on display at the James A. Rhodes office tower, 30 East Broad Street, across from the State House in downtown Columbus as part of The 2022 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition.

The exhibit will be open from 8am-5pm M-F, from now, until May 19. The show includes 281 works from high school students around the state of Ohio.

Founders' Day - May 3, 2022
Each year at this time, we come together to celebrate Bishop Hartley's groundbreaking in the Spring of 1956. A cold day with snow on the ground, Bishop Ready, members of the clergy, students, and their parents all came together as construction was formally launched 66 years ago.

This year, Bishop Hartley Founders' Day will be celebrated with Mass on Tuesday, May 3.
Nurse's Notes
We have been advised of a SYMJEPI epinephrine recall. If your child carries this brand of epi pen, your child carries this brand of epi pen, please contact your physician for a replacement. Freshman and junior health screenings are continuing this month.

We will offer a flu vaccine clinic for our students next Fall. Please watch future editions of the Herald for updates.
