Dog Spotlight—Meet Ranger
Ranger here reporting to rescue! I’m a 4 year old, 56 pound boy and let me tell you my story.
You see, I lived out in west Texas and I was kept as an outdoor dog. West Texas summers are hot and the winters can be really cold and there are these slithery things with a noisy tail called rattlesnakes and I was not enjoying it. I had a skin brother who played with me sometimes and my mom was getting ready to have another baby, dad worked a lot so I was by myself quite a bit. So, one day I sat down and googled bulldog rescue group and up popped Lone Star so I sat down with mom and dad and explained the situation to them. I am hot, I have breathing issues, my feet are sore and hurting and I think it would be best if I went to rescue where they will be able to get me patched up. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my family but I realized they had a lot on their plate and I could ease the burden if I left. They weren’t real happy with my suggestion but, after some persuading they came around and realized it was for the best.
Now I’m checking in from my foster home. I’ve been here a few days now and I’m liking it! I’ve met all the other fur siblings and we get along fine so far. I love to follow Foster Dad and sit underneath his desk and nap. I’m still learning the routines around here, but I love getting my belly rubbed and getting all kinds of loving. Foster Dad says I am adjusting just fine, although I am still not always going outside to do my business, but we’re working on that piece.
I am all healed up and ready to move on to the next chapter of my life. Do you think your home would be a good match for me? Well, then you better get that application submitted!

Do You Puppy Love Your Vet?
Bullie Nation cherishes relationships with our veterinarians. They earn our trust and respect for their advice and healing powers for our precious pets’ health and welfare. We depend on them for solutions, guidance, and canine sense.
When our beloved waifs find the saving grace of LSBCR, they first nestle in the warm embrace of Bright Star Veterinary Clinic in Sulphur Springs, TX, affectionately called the Doc Shop. The veterinary pros envelop them in comfort, security, safety and medical care. The staff evaluates their ills and wills, creates a treatment plan, and charts a future toward a life of nutrition, safety, and happiness. Bright Star epitomizes the spirit of Rescue; without this dedicated team, many of our wards would perish. Instead, our Bulldogs reclaim health and their spirits brighten from doubt to delight.
Before a pup kisses the Doc Shop good bye, Dogtor in Chief Dr. Leah Larsen collaborates with the potential foster families to find a good match for each dog. Doc interprets canine behavior, provides medical and management assistance, and remains a resource for foster families. Many foster parents rely on the responsiveness of our devoted Dogtor for answers to questions ranging from mood to medicine. Doc is a compassionate soul, a teacher, a cheerleader, and a Godsend. LSBCR is fortunate to have her in the lineup.
The Doc Shop is first base of a home run. LSBCR volunteers who discharge necessary tasks, manage events, and contribute their time and money represent second base. The foster family is third base and the adoptive family runs the Bullie home. Every home run starts at first base.
Have you hugged your vet recently?

Bulldogs Make People Better
Authored by Gabby, LSBCR alumna and frequent contributor to this newsletter
Methinks thou hast heard this axiom oft times. But have you contemplated it’s effect on your life? Allow me to elaborate.
We Bullies model behavior that you humans admire but do not always emulate. We do not harbor grudges or avenge trespasses. Your tender mercies create happy dogs. We elate you with our antics, temperament, and playfulness. Our goal is to create an enduring bond of devotion between us.
Most of us Bullies reject the darkness of anger. You humans accept it, sometimes embrace it, but what good results? We, as you, react positively to affection and negatively to abuse. Unlike you, we lack the tools to change your behavior. All we can do is demonstrate how you should conduct yourself and hope that you follow our lead.
If you study our doggie comportment, you will observe candid traits. We want to obey, to please, to follow rules, and to enrich our mutual lives. Can you admit the same in your canine or homo sapiens relationships? Some can, but most cannot.
We are quick to appreciate and loathe to dishonor. We rally to any challenge given your support. We do not know how to surrender and we never give up on you. We Bullies are the nobility of the canine phylum. Maybe by hanging out with and learning from us, you might improve your ranking too.

Amazon Wish List:
Fostering for rescue is always a challenge and a blessing. But not everyone is suited to foster or in a place in their life where they can foster. But there are other ways you can help serve our foster families.
Fosters typically provide such physical things as: food, supplements, crates, blankets, beds, bowls, leash, harness, shampoo, toys… Think what all it requires to care for a dog. They provide these and more—mostly at their own expense. Many foster multiple dogs in addition to caring for their own dogs. Then there are the time and emotional sacrifices for caring, training and equipping these precious pups for a full life in their forever home.
You can help our fosters greatly by purchasing items from our
Amazon Wish List
. They will be automatically sent to one of our volunteers and then distributed to the fosters as needed. Why not put it in your budget and buy something each month for our fosters?
It may be simple, quick and painless on your part, but it will be so valued and appreciated by our fosters.
