Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
The first day of school takes place Wednesday, August 17

We are officially two weeks away from the start of the 2022-2023 school year! Roughly 30,000 students will fill the hallways of the 31 Northwest ISD campuses for a great start to the school year!

To prepare for the start of school, please visit www.nisdtx.org/backtoschool to find supply lists, first day drop-off procedures, normal school hours and more!

Please note that Wednesday, August 17, will be a full calendar day for all NISD students and staff. Please tag your first day of school posts with #NISDFIRSTDAY to be featured on the district's social media accounts!
Immunization clinics available for students
Northwest ISD will host two back-to-school shot clinics for currently enrolled students to prepare for the 2022-2023 school year.

Wednesday, August 3
3:30-6 p.m.
Gene Pike Middle School
2200 Texan Dr., Justin

Monday, August 15
3-6 p.m.
NISD Administration Building
2001 Texan Dr., Justin

Please note the following shot clinic regulations:

  • Only students attending Northwest ISD schools can be seen.
  • A current vaccine record or note from school stating missing vaccines is required.
  • Parent or guardian must be present.
  • Children 4-18 years can be seen. This should not replace any well child checkups at the pediatrician. (Exceptions made for younger children entering school district head start program.)
  • Older children who resist shots and children with special needs will not be seen given the nature of this clinic. Please refer to your pediatrician.
  • Staff and supplies are limited and there is no guarantee you will be seen. The clinic is on a first come basis and may be discontinued when supplies or time runs out.
Register today for 2022-2023 school year
Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year remains open!

Enrolling your child — and providing annual proof of residency — as early as possible is one way that you can help your campus and the district prepare for the next school year. The more families enroll early, the fewer class-balancing changes the district has to make after the school year begins. Early enrollment helps us have teachers where they need to be to meet the needs of our families.

Please visit www.nisdtx.org/enroll to begin the enrollment process for returning students, currently enrolled students and new students to Northwest ISD. Have a question regarding enrollment? Please call your child's campus.
Apply for free and reduced-price meals
During the 2022-2023 school year, free and reduced-price meals will be provided to those who have submitted an approved application. This differs from the 2021-2022 school year, when all elementary and middle school students could receive free meals because of temporary federal funding in response to the COVID pandemic.

If you believe you qualify for the free and reduced-price meal program, apply today! Applications are necessary, as the federal program that allowed all elementary and middle school students to eat free will not carry over to the 2022-2023 school year.
Aramark currently hiring for multiple jobs
Aramark is currently hiring food service employees, cooks and managers to serve our district. If you are interested in learning more or applying, please visit the Aramark website.
Dr. Hicks visits the Summer Garage Library
Dr. Hicks stopped by the Summer Garage Library to read to students from Kay Granger Elementary School!

Northwest ISD student Penelope Droege and her family created the home garage library in 2019 with hopes to share their passion for reading with the neighborhood! This year, the library has grown to more than 120 members and has 2,300 books available to check out!
Northwest ISD continues to grow
Did you know Northwest ISD will open five schools — two replacements and three brand new campuses — in 2023? This definitely isn't our construction team's first rodeo, but that's a lot of schools, coordination and hard work!

Thank you, NISD family, for the continuing support as we grow! And to our neighbors for putting up with those early-morning concrete pours!
