The annual St. James’s Bluegrass Mass
This Sunday at 8:45 am

The Bluegrass Mass is one of the most cherished musical days of the year here at St. James’s. So make sure to mark your calendar for this Sunday, October 17 at 8:45 (after all, you don’t want to miss the prelude.) Our renowned West Gallery Choir and the Guitar Ensemble, along with guest artists Charles Arthur (mandolin, dobro and banjo), Ellen Cockerham Riccio (fiddle), and singer Tarran Turvey will fill our Sanctuary with some serious pickin’, fiddlin’ and twang.

The music will include classic bluegrass songs--which has roots in traditional English, Scottish and Irish ballads and dance music--plus a Bluegrass Mass setting by Mark Whitmire. This is a wonderful service to introduce your friends and neighbors to St. James’s. Even though this is a 9 am service, remember that the Prelude begins at 8:45 am.
A warm goodbye.
A huge thank you for Becky!

This Sunday at 10:15 am in the Memorial Garden

So many of us didn’t get to properly say goodbye to our Director of Children's Ministries, Becky Page. Well, this Sunday is your chance. We’re throwing a farewell party between the morning services in the Memorial Garden and everyone is invited.

There will be food and music (even a performance by the clergy), lots of warm wishes, a few laughs and maybe a tear or two. So make sure to be here at 10:15, which is right after the Bluegrass Mass.
THE TASTE of ST. JAMES’S
Calling all makers and bakers.
The Taste needs you.

The TASTE of St. James’s is right around the corner--YAY!--and we’re looking for folks who are makers and bakers.

The TASTE will feature four soups (recipes and containers provided), chicken pot pies (created by cooking groups) and a variety of delicious baked goods.
Additionally, we would love to feature special condiments, teas, sauces, etc. that any of you may have in your repertoire. Products will need to be delivered to the church on Thursday 11/18, or Friday, 11/19, prior to distribution on Saturday, 11/20.

Please email the 2021 chairs:
Lloyd Spruill (elizlloyd@aol.com),
Alice Hickman (aihickman63@gmail.com) and
Sally Prillaman (sarahprillaman@ymail.com)
with information regarding what you’d like to make or with any questions. Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you!

The Blessing of the Animals

The Blessing of the Animals was a great day here at St. James's. To see a video of some of the sweeter moments, watch the video at doers.org (scroll down home page) or at our Instagram (sjec1205), Facebook or YouTube pages.

We continue to move up the steeple-ometer as our Season of Unity moves along. If you’ve pledged already, thank you! If you haven’t yet pledged, please remember that pledging (as opposed to just giving) makes it so much easier for the church to confidently plan for the year ahead because we have a clear idea of how much money is available for our huge array of programs and plans.

Together, we’re all moving closer to God. Together, we’re creating meaning in our lives and hope in the world. Together we’re all making our church home more comforting, more welcoming and more life-changing. And together, we can reach our goal.
