2021 PARCS CONVENTION & ANNUAL MEETING
First Morning Session (9:00 – 10:00 am)
This summer (on July 6, 2021), the Melville Advance published an article written by Jim Harding, Director of the Qu’Appelle Valley Environmental Association, and retired professor of environmental and justice studies.
Harding pointed to “urban sewage and agricultural runoff, along with decades of wetland destruction and government deregulation” as being guilty of “intensifying climate impacts” on our lakes, claiming that “prairie bioregions are particularly vulnerable.”
At the PARCS Spring Seminar (A series of webinars held during May/June, 2021 about the Environment and our Lakes), several prominent speakers also pointed to the effects of wetland destruction on our lakes. At our upcoming PARCS convention on Saturday, October 16th PARCS has invited Chuck Deschamps of Ducks Unlimited Canada to review these allegations about the loss of wetlands contributing to the degeneration of water quality on our prairie lakes.
