Happy July! I hope you are all enjoying our unseasonably mild weather. We are already more than halfway through with 2021! Time flies when you’re not in lockdown.
We have an action-packed summer coming up. First, we are updating our chapter bylaws for the first time since 2007! (Context: the iPhone debuted on June 29, 2007.) As a member of WTS, your voice and your vote are critical! On July 20, we will be conducting an information session on the significant changes coming. We will record that session and distribute it to our members for those unable to attend. Please familiarize yourself with the changes and vote!
In other news: WE ARE RETURNING TO IN-PERSON EVENTS! As an extrovert, I could not be more excited about this! Our first in-person event will be a MEMBERS ONLY welcome reception for the new Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) President & CEO Nadine Lee on August 17, 2021. Ms. Lee has a long history with WTS, including being named the WTS International Woman of the Year! We are so lucky to have such a dedicated WTS supporter at the helm of our region’s largest transit agency. Make sure your membership is up to date, so you can help us welcome her to North Texas.
Finally, our August program luncheon will feature a dynamic and engaging speaker we’ve been saving up since last year! Gina Radke is a business owner and entrepreneur in the aerospace manufacturing industry. Gina serves as an international trade advisor to Congress and is also an author of the book “More Than: How to be Bold and Balanced in Life and Business.” Keep an eye out for more details for this in-person event on August 19!
Again, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to see you all soon. Dust off those blazers, make sure your dress pants still fit, and double-check your membership status, so we can all catch up on August 17!
