Pastor Trudy's Message

In the Gospel this week Jesus warns us to be seeing and guarding against all kinds of greed. The word greed probably stirs something in most of us. I know it is one of the ‘bad’ things so I start with trying to convince myself that greed is a struggle for other people—but not for me. Look at what Jesus says again, ‘be seeing’ comes first. And apparently greed comes in many forms because Jesus says ‘all forms’. Unless I can 'see', or recognize, all those forms of greed, I am defenseless against them.

God who reveals our hearts, help us to see the many forms of greed and give us the grace to recognize some of them in ourselves. You are ready to stand with us to guard our hearts from greed and open to Your generosity. Thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

July Council Updates

Perry Erhart has served as our treasurer for the past 8 years. Knowing this position requires significant training and preparation, Perry made his intentions to step down known so that we could start to work on this transition. Ted Homewood has agreed to take the position and will be on the ballot at the congregational meeting in October. Council took the necessary actions to accept Perry's resignation and appoint Ted until then so the transition can continue in the meantime. Council and staff have been so grateful for Perry's leadership for these 8 years and are excited to welcome Ted.

Meet Vicar Sharai

Hi, I’m Vicar Sharai. I’m excited to get to know you all soon! Here’s a bit about me: I was born in South Africa, but I’ve been in the US for about 15 years now. I’ve completed a bachelors in Psychology, and I’m currently a student at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. I try my best to paint and draw in my free time, and I’d love to show you a picture of my silly-looking dog!
