When: May 28, 6-9:30 pm

CE hours: 3

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 3 CONTACT/CE Hours.

Description:

I wish I had learned more play therapy techniques! This will not be said after attending this 3-hour training. Participants will first learn that play therapy is not a bag full of play therapy techniques. According to Garry Landreth, play therapy is knowing how to be with the child. After reviewing Garry Landreth’s concepts and Virginia Axline’s principles, participants will learn and engage in directive play therapy strategies. Cognitive Behavior Therapy will be used as a theoretical base to teach strategies for self-regulation with clients experiencing ADHD, anxiety, and aggressive behaviors. This session is hands-on and experiential. Cost includes a different 3-ring binder from Kaleidoscope of Directive Play Therapy and Calendar with loads of practical and useful information. Please have binder and calendar at the webinar. Please have available: crayons, markers, scissors, glitter, and stickers.

This is a different training than Kaleidoscope of Directive Play Therapy Techniques.

Objectives:

  • Explain Cognitive Behavior Therapy as a basis for prescriptive play therapy strategies
  • Explain Virginia Axline’s principles of child-centered play therapy
  • Demonstrate at least 10 directive play therapy strategies for an array of socio-emotional issue
