Q&A FOR BHS FAMILIES
The Welcoming committee has collected frequently asked questions from BHS families and obtained answers to these from BHS teachers and staff. These Q&As are now on the PTSA website.

They are separated into six categories: general school questions, student well-being, math curriculum, community, after school activities, and music curriculum. Below are some sample questions.

Q: Is there a requirement for teachers that any submitted assignment or assessment is
graded and posted within a certain period of time?

Q: Which name would be on the official transcript, legal name or preferred name?

Q: Are there ways to skip the current math level course and advance to the next level if a
student is not challenged enough?

You can find “Q&A for BHS Families” on the PTSA website’s home page under “For Parents.” Also, you can find other useful information in the BHS Parent Handbook 2021-2022.

Thank you to the Welcoming committee members, Hyunju Kim, Sungyun Choi, and Rachel Li!

FROM THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE
WOLVERINE GUARD 2021-2022
The 2021-22 Wolverine Guard Program is going strong!  We already have received applications and hours for some students.  For those who aren’t familiar with it, WG is a Bellevue High PTSA sponsored award that recognizes students who perform 100+ hours of community service in the 12-month period from May 1st to April 30th of each school year.  Students who complete the WG requirements earn a certificate of recognition and who get WG two years during high school, get a special tassel at graduation.

For current guidelines, rules and required forms for WG 2021-22, please go to the BHS PTSA website, https://www.bellevuehighptsa.com/wp/ and look under BHS PTSA Programs.

As a reminder: The PTSA WG program is separate from the Bellevue School District's volunteer hours requirement for graduation.  However, hours that are earned to meet graduation requirements may also be used to meet WG requirements. You will need to download WG forms off of our website to both record your hours (and get supervisor’s signatures!) and the WG Application form.  Thank you to those students who are supporting people through giving your time and energy. You do make a difference!

Please contact Patti Liffick or Nancy Huenefeld Gese (Your WG Co-Chairs) at wolverineguard@bellevuehighptsa.com with any questions that you have.

Decked out in camo-patterned bows, Bellevue Cheerleading rallied for Varsity football this past Friday at the last home game of 2021. After football’s solid victory, the team can’t wait to cheer for the Wolverines again at the 3-A Semifinals on November 27th at Memorial stadium in Seattle (next to the Space Needle) at 1:00.

Not only did the cheerleaders jump, kick, and flip on the sidelines on Friday night, they also participated in their first competition at Bellarmine Prep this past Saturday. BHS’s Game Day and Traditional routines both qualified for State and each received first place in its category! The members of Bellevue Cheerleading look forward to continuing to polish their competition routines, cheering on football, and starting to cheer at basketball games.
